Obviously there'll be no way for him to start over. To start over in a MMO, you basically need to create a new character, and his character is literally himself. A RPG where you can't undo your choices.

By the way, Reona's sales pitch really hit home. Just how many works am I still reading/watching just because I've invested too much time/money in them even though they've gone to shit a long time ago? It's a vicious circle.

I do wonder if Hiro can get the plot back on track while he's wanted for murder and seemingly has no actual ability to go where the game is telling him to go. Can't say that's a normal way of starting an adventure .

Question for those that know a bit about the story (feel free to PM if it's too big a spoiler). Is the little sister a major character here? That looks like her in the ED and the visuals, is it just another girl with a similar hairstyle and look?

Honestly, I'm not entirely sure how the dude managed to kill his "best friend". I mean, he didn't tackle him in a way that would hit his arm at all. Really, I looked over the scene a couple times and it looks like he was surprised by the charge and somehow responded by shoving a knife into his own throat.

The little sister character looks like Alice from Sword Art Online. His best friend (NPC) probably implies Eugeo.

I think he was eating the apple from the knife and was taking it in his mouth when Hiro tackled him and the knife went farther than it was supposed to.

Still doesn't make sense; Hiro didn't hit his arm at all, so there was no force with which to plunge the knife through his neck:

Also he fell on his back. Had he fallen forward, that would've made sense as he may have fallen with the handle forward and the impact would shove it through.

But no way you accidently shove a knife fully though your neck. Remember, the cervical spine is back there. It would not be a trivial amount of force needed to accomplish it.

The Opening is more serious than I was expecting, although the theme and imagery reminded me a lot of Cautious Hero .

So, yeah, Hiro is realizing now how unforgiving this game is and how much of a swindler, albeit a sexy one, Reona is. He can't restart the game without coughing up a lot of money, pain is scaled down but real, the titles are basically Achievements that don't mean anything, and his physical stats are the only thing he has going for him (which includes his track skills). And he's already wanted for murder .

Reona seems way too into how realistic this game is, especially when it comes at Hiro's expense, but at least she seems to be trying to genuinely help him, whether it be directing him towards Ginji or distracting Alicia .

So, uh, good news I guess? Alicia loved Hiro. She still loves Hiro. She's also now a raging Yandere who wants to kill him, and herself, so the can reunite with her brother in Heaven. And Hiro was supposed to make them both party members .

Kaede seems pretty cold and freaked out by her brother, but I feel like she's hiding her genuine concern and sisterly feelings towards him, especially when she brings up why he's not doing track anymore. All the same if he was screaming in real life as much as he was in the game, that would be pretty distracting .

So Ginji is one of the few people who is still playing the game 10 years later and also killed his best friend...and, yeah, he straight up murdered his best friend and his Alicia equivalent just for the sake of it and has been drinking and gambling his way through the game since. He's kind of terrible. And then he turns Hiro in, but I have to imagine there's some benefit to getting arrested in-game, unless he gets a reward for turning Hiro in .

There is such force. It's called inertia. Also knife also could go right beside spine, it doesn't occupy whole back side of neck after all.

So I'm not the only one who thought Ginji looked like Daru .

I definitely don't think it's a coincidence that Ayana Taketatsu, who was one of the Main Heroine's of SAO (the VRMMO anime), is in this and as a fairy girl like Leafa was (even if she's the size of Yui).

The game is aiming to be as realistic as possible, so Hiro will either end up in jail for X amount of years or be executed. The latter would free him from the game, since I'm pretty sure death is permanent. No do-overs, Reona said. If you die, that's it, you can't log in anymore. That's why only one person has ever cleared it.
I'm guessing the only way you can come back is as a support character like Reona, and the reason she wants him to play so bad is that she wants to see the ending. Further guessing the reason she's obsessed with money is that she brought multiple game systems to start over and eventually went into debt.

No wonder the game wasn't popular I understand the meaning of wanting to do a game the most realistic possible but in the end a game should be something to enjoy and not to suffer, this game seems too much of a pain.

So there is one other person in the game, and he turns out to be an scumbag. As the game mechanics, the criminal status, and the crazy childhood friend wasn't enough, now he has to be wary of his fellow player.

Is it resembling the save and load feature of "Escape from Tarkov". Gamers either love it or hate it. Some people call it hardcore feature, and RPG gamers would call it kuso feature?

It not only went straight through, it was horizontal lol), is NOT being generated by a ~130# kid hitting a decently built man as he did. If he railed the guy straight on the arm at the right angle, maybe.
