Chronologically, is the very first time Touma's whole body literally thrown around for giving him a boost?
If not there's any side story tells otherwise. I remember the fans called him "Super Man" in Index III who was strong enough to threw Touma like that while in overseas. |

Hell this is the first time Misaki looks like anything other then another spoiled brat who got too strong for her own good. My biggest complaint about railgun is you never see the dynamic qualities of the characters but there is little doubt they do appear

Sorry, I can't say anymore than that, just know that the main series goes places and characters get a lot better than they already are.

So far it's literally just the power of imagination.

At least not actually an actual and detailed explanation as everything else. Only speculations basesed in the moments where he appears, that let me tell you they are scattered in all Index III material but never take center of anythin, such as this. So I could say it without the risk of spoilers because there has not been an actual explanation in 40+ volumes or spin-offs. This is just speculation and probably wron but seems some kind of reality control but more pure than that of the rest of Espers. He makes whatever he wants twisting the reality at will. He didn't know himself how it works, hence GUTS. He thinks he can makes it with GUTS, you know like a shounen character. Quote:

It's not like lv.5 are only one artifically enhanced. Every young person in AC were. Lv.0s went through it at some point too and even though in their case enhancement failed, It still did some irrecoverable changes on their brain. But there certainly cases which have more potential or more usefull powers then others and those would obviously get much more attention of crazy scientists like Kiharas and bigger budget for cultivation of their gift.
Also Gunha still use personal reality, so on scale between magic and science he is definitely on later side. When I said it's not "clean cut science" I meant there is no singular concept behind it.
