A really great opening episode, shooting up this series as my favorite of the season thus far.
So much has changed in only 10 years, the balance of power has shifted greatly, and the humans have become arrogant in their power. I like our new characters as well as the return of our old ones. Nina is cute, her intro scene really reminded me of the "Belle" song in Beauty and the Beast, even down to the saying good morning to everyone and her greeting the baker. Her going off the handle every time she's around a handsome guy would be quite a problem though. Charioce (is he the son of the wimpy king of last season?) is beloved by the people, but there is obvious desent in the ranks of his actual soldiers. He seems to be all about making the human race superior, using forbidden powers to kill the gods and enslave the demons. (Don't think I didn't notice that both the fighters against the gods and the slave collars around the demons' necks all seem to be powered by some lime-green energy. And Lime-Green power always equals evil!) And yet, we see he has a nice side in the pv where he's on a date with Nina? So I'm wondering who our young king is here? He's clearly evil, but they are actually giving him some depth. I wouldn't be surprised if he's being used by some other power either. Nina, I can't help but think she is somehow connected to both Amira and Bahamut. She seems to have traits of both and with her being the main character, I can't help but think she's got some connection to the titular dragon. I like Azrael's new role in being a freedom fighter for his people. He really has changed since we first met him, and yet he's still similar too. I was interested in Mugaro, his new sidekick, since he (she?) seems to use more god-like power than demon power (gold, rather than purple energy), so I'll be interested in seeing more about him. Kaiser didn't do much, but he seems to be in conflict between his loyalty to the ruling power as a knight and the fact that his king is doing things that go against his own moral code. Rita makes a very short return so I will be interested in seeing her role. Well, the PV shows her going on a date with a in-disguise Charioce, so she will be able to control herself at least to some degree. Or maybe Rita does something that helps to put a limiter on her?

Nina is going to be handful if that's her reaction to being around some many handsome man. That's a gag I could see lasting for a while.
Being a vigilante sounds like an interesting role for Azrael and it makes sense too. It also looks like Kaiser will eventually choose between following the King or his own code. I'm glad that we're getting 24 episode this time around.

What a way to start! No boring info dumps, yet not completely devoid of world building either. We experience it through the eyes of the characters, as it should be. So a king that his own people love & appreciate for what he's accomplished but it's at the cost of angels & demons ~ these racial conflicts will be interesting, that's for sure.
Also, Favaro & Nina should get along. About the dragon part? He already has experience dealing with strange women ^_^ |

Just when I thought we wouldn't see any horny dragons for a while Not that I'm complaining. I do have one complaint about Nina, though: she's too loud, and I don't meant she's overly genki, I mean her voice is too loud, even when she's not trying to raise it! Other than that, she's fine. I have to wonder, though, does someone in the game or anime staff have a thing for dimwitted, pink haired ladies?
Definetly an interesting scenario we got here, with the roles of good and bad thrown into disarray, which is already causing changes like Azazel of all people being the most clear good guy now, and Kaisar clearly stuck between duty and feelings. Of course, I expect Favaro, in his eventual appearance, to not give a hoot, because that's how he rolls Really, its a good way to keep things interesting having already defeated the titular dragon king, and its definetly much better than just give us human characters going into your usual adventure against demons with angels helping out. Action is still great, and it always feels like something's happening or about to happen, which is always a good thing, and we get two cours this time? This is a winner already. P.S: Can't wait for the inevitable comparison between this and Granblue Fantasy, i.e How to and how NOT to do a fantasy/adventure series. Wait, that was him?! I thought it was Azazel. Well, this just got way more complicated now. |

Honestly as much as I liked the first season I wasn't sure if would be able to get back into this show. Especially since I wasn't particularly excited about yhe new characters, but the first episode won me over, by the time it was finished.
The CG is really clunky here tho. With the animation being so good it stands out in a bad way even more because of it. That's my only real gripe here though. This being two cour I expect the pace to much less tighter than season 1, which in some respects is a shame. But hey, as long as MAPPA keeps things interesting we will how it fairs in this format. |

Ep 01
Hmm ... that was a pretty good first ep. Season 1 for me was one of those series I enjoyed overall, but did not finish when it was airing. I came back to it after a bit and found it "easier" to complete via steamro!!ing it. I wonder if this will fare the same for me if I pick it up? Anyway, will give the next ep or two a try - not quite ready to commit.

I was already thinking about it after watching this first episode, but after reading the posts here, I realize I really need to rewatch the first season. I had no idea we were supposed to know who the demon in rags was. In fact, I only remember Kaisar, Favaro, zombie loli and Jeanne from the first season.

In a season with lackluster animation so far Shingeki no Bahamut comes in and show how it's done. The show continues to be incredibly pretty to look at, and of course let us not forget the epic sounding soundtrack.

Well I was talking with a friend about this, and well I've got the feeling she isnt exactly a dragon specifically. But rather is possessed by one. I think I mentioned in my last post how something was weird. How she could suddenly became a dragon without warning, had no control and went berserk, then wakes up not remembering what happened. It also showed us she was a simple villager during the attack of Buhumat 10 years ago.
So this is what I am going with. Shes originally human, but then somethings happened. Shes either merged or possessed. I dont know how this will tie into the story yet also something I forgot to point out.. but wasnt the collateral damage insane ? Would empire forces really destroy their own city towers like that?
