Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S: Return of the Vending Machine. The trouble, has literally been doubled.
That actually was kind of a sad episode, past all the comedy. Though admittedly I'm a little sad that we didn't get to see our scientist friend (I guess she's off in prison practicing how to put on her labcoat like a badass?), as I desire a good still of her in her labcoat. I guess there's not a whole lot to say here since it was a build-up to Misaka trying to end this project once and for all. It should be a very interesting escalation of this arc.

It wasn't an action packed episode, but it was a pretty major episode for Mikoto's character. The soul crushing agony of realizing she hadn't stopped the experiment and just crushing labs wouldn't have any impact. Realizing that Academy City itself is here enemy here, not just some rogue group of scientists. It was pretty big for Mikoto herself. Her self-blame reaching painful levels and her deciding how far she's ready to go in order to save what clones are left.
Of course good humor with Touma. The reactions from Kuroko were source of much needed laughter with how dark things are getting. Also a surprising flashback with Accelerator who is another part of this ugly affair.

Looks like Mikoto is being more like Harumi. The enemy is Academy City itself which sanctions horrible experiments. She is glad that if anybody were to stop her in a rampage it would be Kuroko.
Funny that Accelerator mentions the ban on cloning and AC violating international law. If the stuff Academy City were doing became public every country would become its enemy. I did not expect Touma POV or inner monologue as this is Mikoto's side of the story I guess they'll have to pad out the episode. I find it ironic that when Mikoto saw Touma what came to mind is her first meeting with him when they were just strangers. Touma making out of his way in helping a "helpless" girl even if he stands little chance against normals. After all those chases Mikoto thinks Touma should at least remember her. But Touma now has amnesia and does not remember her. At least Mikoto is making as first impression. LOL Touma thinking what sort of guy he was before picking a fight with a middle schooler. isn't there a 4 coma about Touma taking "responsibility" the way Mikoto phased it in the city by the river , that it was intense ... it could lead to misunderstanding to Touma thinking he some sort of freak .... targeting middle age school girls ... nice that they throw in Aceel flash back scene ( Still mass murdering douche that he is )
anyway looking forward to the next episode |

Ah Touma how I've missed you. Glad they changed some lines in the scene so it wasn't a complete rehash.
Saten/Uiharu/Kuroko's scene was just as funny as in the manga. Who knew Uiharu had such an imagination So this Accelerator bit was in the tankubon (or however that's spelt)? I really should read those. Overall 10/10 this is exactly what I wanted from Railgun. Was it just my imagination or was the animation of Misaka kicking the vending machine taken right from Index?

btw, overall episode is 10/10. I really happy that they do it the same as the manga. and the bits from index s1 just perfect. Touma made my day. Kuroko's expressions was priceless. And they really have the guts to animate the scene when Accelerator was chewing that thing. they should have done in index s1 but who cares about it. and yes, the 2nd half of this episode was sad. Mikoto let me hug you |

EDIT: Have been informed that this is from Index II, rather than Railgun. Not really sure now, so removing it just in case while I go and check... Yeah, it was a line from Kuroko, but in Index II, and I've spoiled myself for later in this season trying to look it up. Serves me right I suppose. Apologies all round...
