I didn't know until now that the manga was by the same woman who wrote Mugen Spiral! Definitely count me in for this one.

Actually I am interested to hear Chiwa Saito voice Yona... You know how sometimes when you read a manga you can "hear" what you think a character's voice might sound like? Well, while reading this one I had no audial reference point, but somehow when I think of her other roles and then try to imagine the combination I can kinda see it and kinda not. Hmm.

So the character's name sounds Korean, is it like 12 Kingdoms where the setting is a fantasy Chinese-like world but more Korean?

Sorta kinda and yet not - my impression was that it was a bit of a mix and mash of "Far East" things. Mongolia themed stuff pops up, Japanese things pop up, even European things pop up.

Interesting, I really like the initial look so far. From the character design it does look mixture different elements. I will give this a chance when it comes out.

Yeah! I never expected this manga to get an anime adaption! Totally count me in for this!

I don't think it's as great as Soredemo Sekai wa Utsukushii but it's still good (hopefully the production is as good as Soredemo). So far the character design is good!

...and I'm watching this solely for the squirrel! The squirrel!!!

Really liked that manga but ending was so "incomplete". D: (...and I didn't know it's the same mangaka either until I saw your post! Hopefully she'll do a better ending for this series.)

I know nothing about the manga, but the synopses I've found make this out to be pretty interesting. I'll be adding this to my to-watch list with Donten ni Warau. Guess I'll be on a swordfight binge this coming season.

Will Yona be 1 or 2-cour? I'm aware the manga is still an ongoing work.

Has it always been standard practice for shoujo anime to have 1 cour?

I recall shoujo series like Ouran HS Host Club and Kaicho wa Maid Sama(The Class President is a Maid) got 2 cours each when they first aired.

I don't really think it's just about it being shoujo, but rather that it's become standard practice for most shows to be one cour.
