OP Romaji
Here's the romaji and translation to the opening theme: (done by me)
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Vocals: Shimamiya Eiko Furimuita Sono ushiro no (Shoumen daare?) Kurayami ni Tsume o tatete (Yoru o hikisaita) Amadare wa chi no shizuku to natte hoho o tsutai ochiru Mou doko ni mo kaeru basho ga nai nara Kono yubi tomare Watashi no yubi ni Sono yubi goto Tsurete tte ageru Higurashi ga naku Akazu no mori e Atomodori wa Mou dekinai Hitori-zutsu Kesarete yuku (Aoi honoo) Kurayami no Sono mukou ni (Asa wa mou konai) Kagami no naka de Ugomeki nobashite kuru musuu no te de Saa Dareka o koko e izanai nasai Oni-san kochira Te no naru hou e Donna ni nigete mo Tsukamaete ageru Higurashi ga naku Kemonomichi kara Kikoete ita koe wa mou nai Kono yubi tomare Watashi no yubi ni Sono yubi goto Tsurete tte ageru Higurashi ga naku Akazu no mori e Atomodori wa Mou dekinai Oni-san kochira Te no naru hou e Donna ni nigete mo Tsukamaete ageru Higurashi ga naku Kemonomichi kara Kikoete ita koe wa mou nai When Cicadas Cry Vocals: Shimamiya Eiko Behind where I looked back; (Who's in the front?) In the dark, I raised my claws (and slashed apart the night) The raindrops turn into droplets of blood and travel down my cheeks If no place for me to return to exists anywhere anymore Take these fingers, my fingers I'll take all of your fingers away To the unopenable forest where cicadas cry I can't turn back anymore Being made to disappear one by one; (the blue flames) On the other side of the dark, (the morning won't come anymore) Inside the mirror, with countless wriggling and stretching hands Come on, lure someone here Oni-san, come here, to where my hands sound No matter how you'll get away, I'll capture you From the animal trail where cicadas cry The voice that I heard is no more Take these fingers, my fingers I'll take all of your fingers away To the unopenable forest where cicadas cry I can't turn back anymore Oni-san, come here, to where my hands sound No matter how you'll get away, I'll capture you From the animal trail where cicadas cry The voice that I heard is no more ...Very creepy. Definitely suits the girls of Higurashi. "I'll take all of your fingers away"?! o_O Is finger-chopping gonna occur in the series?

------------------------ While I'm on the topic, now that Watanagashi-hen is over, I have uploaded the second MAD video of the Nakani Kimi to Nageki no Sekai series: Nakanai Kimi to Nageki no Sekai -Soshunfu- Be careful though, since this second video features contents from both Watanagashi-hen and it's answer chapter, Meakashi-hen, so it may be spoiler for some (I watched it myself before I played Meakashi, and I didn't feel all that spoiled, so I guess it's not that big a deal). |

Well, it's listed in the credits at the end of the clips, but I guess the downsized videos might be too blurry to read.
Anyway, Nakanai Kimi to Nageki no Sekai (the first MAD, based on Onikakushi-hen) Featured Song: bewailing Singer: Shinra Etsuko (新良 エツ子) Music/Arrange: Hyomoto Yuuji (表本 裕二) Nakanai Kimi to Nageki no Sekai -Soshunfu- (the second MAD, based on Watanashi and Meakashi-hen) Featured Song: Tsuki wa Noboru, Watanashi wa Utau (月ハ昇ル, 私ハ詠ウ) (The Moon Rises, I Sing) Singer: Shinra Etsuko Music/Arrange: Hyomoto Yuuji Both Shinra Etsuko and Hyomoto Yuuji belongs to ALTERNAIT, one of the groups who participated in the creation of these MADs. These songs were produced specifically for these videos. If you looked at my first post, you'll notice that there's a third video, Utage (which happens to be my favorite), based on Tatarigoroshi-hen. But for the sake of not spoiling people too soon, I won't put that one up until the anime finishes airing Tatarigoroshi. |

I tried to recompose Higurashi no Naku Koro ni with midi. I tried the best to be as close as possible to the original, however some synth effects are missing. Here is the result:
MP3: Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (Yamaha XG) Midi: XG Compatible | GS Compatible (MS GS Synthesizer user would prefer this version) Any thought? |

It's funny that no one mentioned the ED yet. Well, I don't want to sound like a party crusher or something, but I find it pretty bad, especially because I'm so fond of the OP and the OST Kawai Kenji wrote so far (Gosh, that guy knows how to freak people out! lmao. Believe it or not, I saw him for the premiere of "Avalon", even asked him a question, and he's a really cool guy with a old-fashioned hairdo. At least, I suppose he still has it).
What do you think? I mean about the lyrics (mm....) the voice ( argh......) and the music (*gone to bed, bored)...

Really?! Kawai Kenji wrote this? I would never have known because his works usually sound alike such as Fate/Stay Night sounds a lot like some of the tracks in Vampire Princess Miyu.
I only like the OP song. The ED song is...just average, no offense. I listened through it once and now I already forgot what it sounded like. I guess it's the lyrics that distract me because I always try to find out what it's supposed to be saying and I get distracted and forget the overall melody of the song. |

And lol, that's what I meant by "mmm..." about the lyrics of the ED. But I'm happy you like it, LJ, really. What you call a common problem is sth I just can't take, even after years of Japanese studies...
