Don't know what it was, but I have to agree that the CG was slightly off putting. I hope we get better subs.
Kei is a pretty tough situation and some people probably aren't above using his sister to get to him.

I haven't seen many CG shows so I cannot say much on the quality, but the CG of this first episode seems to aim for more realistic feel similar to live action movies. I'm pretty much satisfied on this regard.
The story is interesting as expected, and it takes its time to build up the point of being human, which is good. It's just that the episode ends when the story is just about to take direction. Anticipated for next episode. |

Honestly, I think Polygon's CG is pretty awful. Compare this to Bubuki Buranki - except you can't. It's night and day.
In a funny way I this was less distracting with Sidonia, because the characters and dialogue there were generally wooden and unrealistic anyway. Because that stuff is better in Ajin, the clunky animation is more jarring.

Ep 2 was great again. I'm really a sucker for stories like this xD and Kai is such a cool guy too... + Hosoyan voices him so even easier to fall for him :')
The CG didn't bother me at all this episode but yes, the animation was still as choppy as last week (and of course it would, since this is all from the same movie after all). I hope it eventually gets better because that's how it was for Sidonia s1 iirc, that started to get better as the show progressed (well, either that or I just got used to it lol I'm not so sure). Great second episode. I'm curious about the role Kei's sister will play since it doesn't seem like she can move around much. She also doesn't seem like an Ajin nor did she know her brother was one.
That Black thing seems to be some sort of puppet that acts based on Kei's desires, even his subconscious ones.

I'm actually curious why they feel the need to hunt down Ajin. Not only that, they feel the need to test by torturing and killing them over and over again. In addition to that, they say that Ajin poses no threat to people. All this seems so shady.
As for the sister, she didn't appear as one of the main characters in the intro, so I'm guessing she will have a small part to play. Definitely a very interesting series so far.

Episode 2
Interesting stuff. Kai's strong resolve to protect Kei is shown here as he takes on the two kidnappers who already had a high-school girl in their van. We see some Ajin powers namely the ability to immobilize people with their voice and the ability to summon a monster wrapped in toilet paper or something. Kei doesn't want to end up being a lab rat so he's on the run. He can't die for good, but it sure is painful getting killed and he doesn't want to experience that. There were some hints towards characters who could be of importance later on like that old guy and that news reporter. Would be interesting to see what roles they play. In the next episode Kei will come face to face with his summoned monster or whatever. |

Yes, I'm sure they are doing that for their own benefit. However, I would have expected them to do it secretly. Outright making Ajin out to be a threat and menace, yet also admitting that they are harmless seems risky and contradictory.

I'm one of those that found the CG in the first episode extremely off-putting, but the second one was intense! The CG didn't matter anymore and I was totally transfixed throughout.
The OST was used incredibly well indeed! On that note, poor Kei...wonder how many times he has to die throughout the series. |

Ep 01
Finally got around to seeing the first episode and actually found myself enjoying it more thsn I expected to. I think I will give future eps a try, although for me it is not high on my priority list. Still...a pleasant surprise. The story is interesting, and while the cgi is a little jarring at times it did not put me off over much - I was still able to stay focused on the narrative. I do agree that the use of bgm was well done, and I see a few opinions in the thread that that aspect of things gets better. Yes indeed, a nice surprise. Was not expecting much out of this one....

If it was in secret, how are normal students getting their hands on them? Why is the topic on Ajin being taught in class? Why is it such a big deal? Also I view the scene of students saying it's fake as kids being stupid and thinking that they know it all. You also see more of this attitude later when our MC was discovered as Ajin. It doesn't make practical sense to think Ajin are not real when they are taught in everyday classes.
