So I decided to read just to see what all the discussion is about and I found myself appreciating the anime more despite it's flaws. I can thank the manga for that at least! Well I guess this was kind of expected since this is meant to be a shonen manga but... eh, I think Triple_R's impression pretty much sums up my own. Zero subtlety, 300% more lesbian action (Mind you it was pretty hot but I'd read a H doujin/manga if I were looking for that) and sure as hell isn't more mature. No, having twice the nudity, sex and violence does not a mature story make.
Also where's Shun? There's this black haired guy with the same name but he sure as hell isn't Shun! I guess the artist decided to replace him with a new character to appeal to the magazine readers more. Alas, this just isn't interesting compared to the anime so I don't plan on reading anymore. Maybe I'll have a quick glance if they decide to give Satoru x Shun as much attention as they've been giving the hawt lezbian secks but I seriously doubt they will, at all. That's what pixiv's for! |

Yeah, it's pretty much the Hollywood B action flick version of the story. xD Violence! Sex! Love story! In your face! Out with the boring parts, who cares about background info and worldbuilding and characterization?
The love interest is beefed up into an action guy, the heroine's crush is turned from innocent akogare into full-blown LOVE♥ and now we have explicit sex, with a clingy and needy Maria because omg that's so hot. And the other two guys are just sort of there as a background pattern. (OK, IIRC Mamoru actually did something? something very out of character.) TBH I am sort of curious about how the manga is going to deal with later happenings, especially when the well of hot 2 girl action goes dry and some, ahem, "little pets" enter the picture (so to speak). Then again, it is a "loosely inspired by" version so I guess it'll continue to deviate wildly from the source material... Last edited by kuromitsu; 2012-12-11 at 05:25. |

The fact that I disagree with the way female viewers/reader want to see this is obvious, but let me put it this way... Both adaptions divert from the original because they are intended for different audiences. Both cut down some material, and expand on other, in order to appeal to different genders and ages. There is nothing bad about it (IMHO at least, obviously a trio here strongly disagrees). Actually I think it's better to get a NoitaminA-like animated version, since a proper adaption would never get enough funds, and usually it's better in these cases not to attract to much attention from the mainstream

Then you weren't paying attention - he's been like that from episode 1. (In fact, he did the "stop this, I don't want to hear it anymore" with the minoshiro library critter, too.) |

Black-honey-chan... that is just your denial there... there was that side in the novel, but not as developed as in the manga... the anime similarly expands on more harmless aspects for your the masses delight... I really don't get you girls ripping on the manga for deciding to extend other aspects of the source

(So hey, since apparently you've already immersed yourself in the source material... if you would be so kind as to present some quotes or something? But only if you want to, just to help me realize how deluded I am.) |

Despite gender influencing viewpoints, I am sure that certain girls would agree that the manga does a better job than the anime, and vice versa. I have already for the expert you posted last month... but I doubt that line by line to frame by frame and panel to panel comparison has anything to offer (to anyone). I have mentioned several times what I do and not like in both the anime and the manga conceptually and why. While I agree to a certain extent with a lot of the negatives you have pointed out in the manga, I am not so easy to dismiss it as trash, since they don't really bother me that much. That is not the case with the anime, where storytelling is handled very badly, and I don't see the point in recycling all those arguments again. |

I suppose it's a nice tease, but this could really be any yuri manga. Honestly, I felt the anime showed less but ending up getting more. Didn't compare the plot since one must be insane to think I was aiming for that. For now it's just a doujin to me. It could have served as a counterpart to the more PC anime, for those that are intresting into the other side of sexuality that gets downplayed in the anime but I don't see it atm.
