After this 3rd episode, I have a better handle on the concept behind this show. The comedy is decent enough that this is a keeper for me this season.
So far, with each episode, they seem to be slowly peeling off layer-by-layer of this large onion of a germaphobe called Aoyama. |

My point was that his is a guy who wouldn't be able to touch Kana, at least not until she'd washed, several times. Also, the show DOES take his phobia relatively seriously, talking from the beginning about how big of a handicap it is and how much more amazing his performance is when one considers just how dirty a sport soccer is and he still plays because he loves it. I'd say it'd fit fairly well to say that he's able to last the last five minutes not because he views it as crunch time but because that's as far as he's able to stretch without desperately needing a shower.

An intresting episode this week, story told from a different perspective/person and almost no football, except for the iron ball, in this week's episode.
This episode is kind of interesting, because we haven't/never seen Aoyama own thoughts. By using another character with similar condition, not the same, to describe their circumstances is a neat idea. |

The narrative style of the series is really brilliant. You got Aoyama as the main character in the show, but most of the time he isn't the active MC in the episodes.
This week's episode was funny, it kind of shows one, that you cannot control how people see your work. Long lives the Blue Wizard ! |

I can definitely see the pairings now. Umeya was introduced in order to pair up with Gotou, since Odagiri seems destined with Aoyama. Aoyama has no interest in any girls, but at least he is alright with Aoyama touching him and cooking for him.

She is the only girl that treats him normally and doesn't worship him like every freaking girl in the series.

On a different note, Moka's pretty darn impressive. They need to figure out a loophole to let her on the team; I'm pretty sure she's second only to Aoyama himself. Not to mention that it might help her improve her own relationship: when he faced her on the field, he became so engrossed that he pulled a slide on the sand everyone'd been trampling, and I'm almost certain it wasn't the last 5. Off field she's like everyone else, but on field she's able to inspire him to forget his phobia. A few months of that and she might be able to reach a point where he can touch her. Of course, she'll die from such a deliberate touch, but still I think she'd consider it a small price for the reward of actual physical contact. |
