(CR) Tower of God

The tower's second level saved it for me... for now.

I haven't read the webnovel in over 5 years, so I don't really remember much from the story. I just finished watching the first episode, and here's what I got:

- The art style is weird AF. The character models are missing parts of their outlines, it's very angular (especially on the sniper's jagged mouth) and the animation feels clunky.
- The voice acting is pretty good.
- The score is good as well.
- While I still remember a bit, I can't help but wonder WTF is going on. People are in a tower and want to climb to the top, but in this world, people got inventories and shit.
- Baam (or Yoru) has survived thus far because he is a lucky bastard. A princess loaned him a rare weapon and his would-be killers just died to others right before killing him.
- Speaking of death, if Baam is supposed to have overcome his fear of death in level 1, the level 2 test has him shaking in his proverbial boots pretty much all the time.
- White boy's briefcase > big-ass cleaver.

I'll watch it, but I'm not really setting any expectations for this.

Ugh, yeah, this happened. I'm usually not one to complain about a fast pace, but the first half of this episode felt all over the place, with so much getting thrown at you at once. The second half, when he gets taken to the second floor is kind of the only reason for now why I'll watch the next episode.

More characters introduced but honestly, I feel like Bam is getting more and more irriating to watch. He definitely needs a strong ally to survive though.

The others like Jahad, Aguero, Sibisu, etc are worth to keep an eye on, especially the Tower of God admin. Felt like the episode added slightly more comedy than the previous one.

So far, this is looking like a cross between Tower Of Druaga, and HunterXHunter
(specifically, the hunter's exam arc). Will it maintain this vibe for the rest of the
series?

2nd episode was much better than the first. I was so bored with the first episode, everything I've ever seen before and yet so much dryer. Bam was so milquetoast it hurt, and Yuri was so much the tsundere power princess that it was beyond irritating. The plot seems really simply, very HxH arc like.

However, in the second episode, they seemed to introduce more interesting characters and the plot took a few small turns. And I began to be interested in the world itself. This episode got me to continue on the series.

It changes a lot tonally, and relatively quickly too. But the anime is only going to adapt the first main arc among several in the manhwa.

That ep did a much better job at capturing the overall sense of the manhwa. This series is insanely fun at this point of the story.

I still have no idea what's going on, why everyone's in this tower thing or why some look so alien, why a princess happened to be at the bottom floor, why that logo on their swords are so special and other stuff, but it's intriguing enough for me so I'll stick with it for now.

Most of them are born in the Tower, in the outside section. The Regulars (the guys trying to climb) were invited by Headon (the rabbit thing that welcomed Bam) to try and climb to the top of the Tower where they would find money, glory, power and whatever they could desire. (At least, that's what the the ads say. Terms and conditions may apply.)

The Tower is big (way bigger than Earth), and is home to lots of different people. They were just born that way.

She wasn't. She had to hurry and climb down (with the help of her friend who's a Navigator).

Well this explains most of my confusion as to those non-humans hanging around.

I guess I'll have to see more if I want to know why Bam/Yoru considered himself and Rachel an outsider when everyone's from different parts but are still from inside the tower.

It's not so much that he considers himself an Irregular. He was told by various people that he is and what it means: he came into the Tower from the outside without being invited. He didn't meet Headon until after he went in.

No what I meant was that he considers himself and Rachel different from everyone else since they were not from inside the tower but from a different world. Either he's mistaken and everyone is from inside the tower including him and Rachel but he doesn't know it yet, or they're special in that they really aren't from the residential parts of the tower.

Well, his "invited" sequence looked more like the Tower said, "Gatcha! Oh, no you're not getting away from me!" with the huge hand grabbing him while he is sobbing in the tunnel.

They made some worrying alterations to Koon's character. And possibly backstory.
