Watch episode 50 again. She doesn't explicitly say, "I love you," but she says something along the lines of, "I'll protect you, with my true feelings." That plus the tone of her voice, and the way she inflects the words in her entire monologue suggests that she might care for him deeply, possibly love

Oh Yeah, I forgot about that. So yeah, I'll ammend my response. Fllay already had deep feelings for Kira by episode 32. Sorry, that episode 50 scene just really stuck out in my mind, not really sure why though...

Maybe 'cause she was buck naked. But seriously, these kids are 15 and 16 years old... For guys at least, it's impossible to fall in love at that age. You're too preoccupied with trying to get laid to actually fall in love. Of course, being the situation where you have to fight for your life every day might change that but... I dunno... I think Flay was in it for the sex. C'mon! Ultimate coordinator! She wanted his ultimate gene modification down south.

Yeah that might have had something to do with it, but um... the raw emothion too was touching. Anyways, I'll agree that two normal teens in a normal situation wouldn't fall in love, but like you said they were in an extraordinary situation. People tend to grow up quickly in extraorinary, life threatening situations, so I'm sticking to assertion.

too early for her to know he was the ultimate coordinator back then, and then again, this is anime. and in GSD the girls' behaviour is not similar to real life. And even if she knew he was the ultimate coordinator, i doubt she would be thinking at that time about having a baby with half the genes from the ultimate coordinator.... just too young to be thinking about that at least

I guess u might classify her as the "dependent" type of girl (aka incompetent, weak or as u said, insecure)

Although we would be going a little bit on the extreme here, it can still be a very plausible hypothesis.
