Agreed, Yoshimori seems to really care about tokine. I don't know if any romance is possible between them, because allthough he is attracted to her, she seems protective of him like a little brother or something. (meaning she isnt attracted to him as a guy? It doesnt help him that he is younger than she is either. )

Going by Yoshimori's reaction when she said that he creeps her out (with his following her to school), I think we can say he's interested. Big question is Tokine. She does seem to sport a big sister attitude towards him, especially when we see them in the flashbacks, so that doesn't work in his favour. Well, Yoshimori better put in some effort, this won't be easy.

Hello everyone and welcome to yet another installment of "I can't believe nobody subbed this yet!". Ep4 has aired and I'm impressed. That was some great animation right there. Sunrise really poured some money into that series, fitting for it's prime time spot. This time they covered about 3 1/2 manga chapters, continuing the story at a nice pace. Good stuff, I'm looking forward to next week. Random tidbit, one of the monsters that got sliced up in the opening by mystery cast member #3 changed colors. Not sure what that's supposed to signify.

Thank god. I thought Episode 4 was never going to appear. It's bad enough no one's very interested in subbing this for now, but if it's boycotted by RAW Hunters as well....I cry.

Yeah, its a surprisingly good series.

I'm afraid I'm beginning to sound like a broken record, but I really liked this episode too. I'm not a very big Yomi fan--find it hard to sympathize with her--so that dilluted it somewhat, but I was surprised to find myself touched in a few places.

Ah, I really love Tokine! Even if she's not as powerful and runs out of energy easier than Yoshimori, she totally keeps her cool and analyzes the situation. And the way she told Yomi so coldy that she thought it would be best to get rid of Yoki...I just love that side of her to death! <3 <3 <3

Yoshimori is also impressive. I like the way he's protective of both Tokine and, to an extent in this ep, Yomi without it seeming sexist or patronizing. He really comes across as someone would would be careful of anyone's feelings, because that's just the kind of guy he is. It's nice to have a more sensitive shounen lead for a change. (And it makes for a nice contrast with Tokine's insensitivity. )

Cake guy next ep. Looks like the animation takes a turn for the worse too, but I suppose that's to be expected. This ep looked so nice I can't really complain.

Lol, I didn't read your spoiler because it said ep 5

Plus, I was kindof hoping that you'd tell me where you got the raw
(5 seconds of research tells me it hasnt aired yet, oh well )

My favorite thing about this show is that its easy to watch and easy to like.
Its a nice romantic side story without excessive angst, action scenes that work well, and a setting that makes you ask questions as it slowly reveals more details.

I have to say I agree. She was willing to kill to get her way, she doesnt deserve the sympathy from Yoshimori at all.
I also disagree with her suddenly "seeing the light" near the end of the ep. Evil types see people who are stupidly nice to
them as idiots, imo, not as saviours.

Normally, I would think Yoshimori was an idiot for coddling someone so dangerous and evil: BUT

The entire battle seemed somehow like child's play to him. At no point did he quiver or seem about to lose.
He wasnt even trying to kill the monster. His confidence makes me understand why he wasnt angry at Yomi:
she wasnt a serious threat to him, just a naughty misbehaving girl.

If he is going to win over Yomi from her idiotic evil streak, its not because he was nice to her. It will be because
he is strong. (both in power and in personality)

Hmm, you really think so? I think Yoshimori was a little too overconfident, as is his usual modus operandi.

His method of dealing with Yoki was containing him, but while Yoshimori has a huge natural store of power, Yoki has the advantage of being able to tap into the Karasumori influence on the site. So while Yoki was getting a constant stream of power going in, Yoshimori was expending power without being able to draw on more. Eventually, without the outside assistance, things would have gone very badly indeed. (Which is why I'm definitely on the side of Tokine. Screw Yomi's feelings, neutralize the threat!)

Of course, Yoshimori's thought process is "if I have to do it, I will do it!" Which is why, while I'm weak to shounen manga kids with this sort of "willpower trumps all" worldview, I can understand how frustrating it is for Tokine to work with this sort of guy. He's not thinking "what if I lose?" (Yoki could very easily escape the school grounds and seriously injure someone), but "I will win!"

I don't think he really won her over. After all, she was still going on about pity and, repulsively, compared her situation to that with Tokine and her father. If anything, what "won her over" was getting Yoki back. Seeing as how Yoki is the only thing she gives a damn about aside from herself.

Though, I don't think she deserved to get Yoki back. It would have served her right if Yoki had been killed outright. But, like I said, I don't like Yomi, so...no pity from me!

I can imagine it

But I can also imagine her coming back in a later episode with a different attitude. If she's not going to be a bad guy again, then the only plausible thing I can imagine is that she respects yoshimori for being strong. But maybe she'll be an antagonist yet again, who knows

Hmm, I wasn't really clear. What I meant was, that I don't think it was Yoshimori's strength (fighting) that won her over, but rather the fact that she managed to regain what she cared about. (ie, Yoki)

Of course, upon thinking about it, I guess you could say that his ideals won her over because he fufilled his promise, showing that what he had wasn't just worthless idealism and naivete as she had thought. If that's what you mean when you mean "strength", then yes his strength won out.

But at the same time, while I think she learned her lesson, I don't think she's going to be little Miss Sweetness and Sunshine. If the experience had truly changed her completely, I would have expected her to show some regret beyond "Boohoohoo, I lost something important to me! But don't pity me!"

SO ! I finally came around to watching the 4 first episodes' raws and I liked what I saw ^^

Right now I'm playing with the idea of subbing it but please don't hold your breath

If I'm going to sub it, I'll be able to begin around the 8 november since I got exams coming up, and I'm not at my own place at the moment.

I will probably make my decision when my schedule is more free. If by that time someone else is doing a great job fansubbing it I'll let them handle it, maybe help them out if need is. Else I'll just start sabbu/aegis and start the fun.

(maybe you don't know me but I subbed episode 12 of bokura ga ita and 24,25, 26 of ouran host club, even if lunar's skill put me to shame I think I did pretty well)

I like Kekkaishi alot, the animation looks really smooth. Not so sure I like the voices or OP, but meh... it's still a good show

I'm not especially as enamored with the cake-guy as some seem to be, but it makes for a nice little slowdown ep. I liked the small additions to the episode as compared to the manga--they're kind of ramping up the Yoshimori/Tokine and I am NOT complaining. <3

I felt the climax could have been handled better. Yoshimori looked a lot more disturbing in the manga, and the bit where he's blowing up the salaryman's body was a lot more intense too. Here, it seemed like an afterthought and there was absolutely no sense of danger.

On the other hand, the little fight with Yoshimori's grandpa over the cake at the beginning made me laugh harder than the manga version. The look on his face as his grandpa tore up his design plans then took a bite from his castle/cake just made me giggle. Oh, and Tokine calling him a cake-otaku...
