They actually used the English word Siren, so the term for the species is not in question.

No, they got it right. Harpies are something else. Ugly, for starters.

(There's also a lot of confusion between sirens and mermaids. Sirens are the ones with the voice.)

Was expecting them to fall back on sushi. Them coming out with carpaccio instead was a nice surprise and good research on the author part.

And like many, i didn't know about the siren, mermaid and harpy difference. Glad to have a show that tries to correct the misconception

Nekoya is technically a Western restaurant. And carpaccio isn't that uncommon in Japan, I think, not many places use raw fish as ingredients.

No doubt Kuro is an important guard for that place. Not much that can harm her, but plenty that could even accidentally do harm to her co-workers. It is a good place to allow her to slowly start socializing with others.

Actually i didn't know there's an western dish that actually uses raw fish as ingredients . No comments on Japan though, it was all local japanese food for me when i went there for vacation. Never crossed my mind to try their western food.

I like how it ties back and justify the reason why the red dragon ask Kuro to guard the place for her despite most customers have been generally been very amicable once they got over the shock of entering an otherworldly restaurant ran by a regular normal human.

The finale imo is fitting for this show as it celebrates the idea of isekai and cooking mixed with the otherwordly characters.

I think this finale still demonstrates that simple food and its textures are enough to satisfiy the customers and make them come back. Delicious as usual. I don't have much to add about this anime as I felt that it hit its targets in the end to earn a 7/10. Story is lacking but it made it up with its characters and themes.

The length of the show was also well constructed imo.

... If meat day comes once a month, shouldn't Aletta have experienced it a few times?

There is only 2-3 times in a year when the 29th of a month coincides with a Saturday.

And as the novels point out, due to Isekai using a different calendar system, the patrons basically assumed that Pork Day is random. They had no way of knowing.

That was solid. I did like that the show gave us some insight into what made the chef important and probably what ties that place to another world. Must have been quite the shock for Yomi getting dropped into that world. Though certainly she had endured much harsher trials in the battles she fought.

Suppose he wouldn't really need to learn swordsmanship or magic. Although personally if my grandmother was a badass warrior from another world....I'd still like to learn some magic for the awesomeness of it . But since he likely doesn't know his heritage, he wouldn't know to ask anyways.

Just a feel good story. Two worlds continuing to peacefully interact with individuals and good food at the core of it. Aletta's life has improved extremely well since we started and Kuro is happier as well. Heck it probably is a nice thing having some coworkers as well. I can imagine trying to work the whole floor himself could get pretty insane at times. While of course he can chat and interact with patrons, having staff that is from that world probably is nice. A comfortable way to spend the evening eating and chatting.

Good show.

.... no more weekly Aletta....

Still, all the reveals and connections this episode was great, though it makes me want for a Season 2 more than I already do!

I guess I have to revise my opinion of this series being all form and no substance. Despite this series being no Kino no Tabi or Bartender, it's not trying to be that. It's a simple unassuming Iyashi-kei series that does what it does pretty well. And there is art and merit in that.

Well, that was a nice way to tie the chef to the lore of the other world.

Overall this was aiming to be a nice comfy series and it succeeded at that. Having likable characters like Aletta and Kuro definitely helped. Wouldn't mind a season 2.
