GN drives were always modular units since the very begining,

heck, the side stories shows that many times already.......

The Reborn is really an interesting machine... it's back is a heavy Guncannon like MS specialized in long ranged firepower, and its "front" is a high speed Gundam. And it can switch between modes in a second.

That the CM at the end of the episode more or less confirms an upcoming HG kit is much reason for celebration

Let's hope it will retain the transformation, and not 2 separate kits

It is a transforming MS, and not an armor-purge mobile suit like the VIrtue/Nadleeh or two entirely different MS like Seravee/Seraphim, hence they'll add in the transformation for sure.

Though I foresee major parts swapping ahead..

I notice that the rebuilt Exia lacked the massive GN Cables on its arms and legs. Appears that Exia underwent a overhaul, not just a weapon swap.
(Hi, had to recreate my account for this epic episode. Use to be on a bit till the fourms were hacked and it deleted about 2-3 months of posts/ accounts)

I'm guessing they modified it to at least be on-par with the other Gen 3.5 Gundams.

The bluish-violet belts on the Gundams you see in Exia and the other 2nd and 3rd Gen Gundams are the GN Cables.

You can see them here on the Exia by the shoulders, thigh and leg.

Nope. If you look at Exia during S1, you would see large purple GN cables attached to its arms and legs. In S2 Ep 25, Exia lacks said cables.
Edit: lol Your fast LoweGear.

I would if I could, unfortunately I don't have the appropriate tools with me (accessing from net cafe).

Though the GN Cables are pretty apparent in the image I posted, it is the static art afterall.

Someone took this screenshot of the New Exia's back:

Spoiler for New Exia's back:

Noted differences from the original:

- Shoulder GN Beam Saber racks deleted; replaced by a small exhaust port with long exhaust strip
- Redesigned butt armor, with GN Beam Saber racks deleted
- Exhaust port below the knee joint not present in the original
