Well actually, I still enjoyed the last few episodes albeit for completely different reasons...

It's like watching a B-horror movie (Final Destination: The anime), equally silly with non of the fun.

Honestly Another was about the only original series from this studio that I've been able to actually finish so it must have been doing at least something right. The last couple episodes were pretty typical for J-Horror though I find the whole show kind of is with the whole long build up that borders on even boring at times and then BLAAAAH everyone goes crazy, which considering Japanese overacting tendencies usually means hilarity rather than horror. It's sort of take it or leave it.
Part of the problem with a lot of their shows is that it's like they can't seem to figure out what it is they want to do and a lot of them see, to have very similar settings and themes too so it's like they all kind of blend together and become kind of boring really quickly. I caught a bit of the new Shirobako though and it at least seems like they've got a set concept of what exactly they are trying to portray and it seems like it could actually be workable and interesting. It's funny how few of the shows they've come out with seem to have this down though. |

Someone was mentioning in the Shirobako thread that while slice of life dramas are PA Works' bread and butter, they like to try other genres. Are there any particular genres that people here would like to see them try?
Although it's a genre they've already done, I'd personally like to see them do another action series. The action scenes in Canaan were top tier -the show just needed better writing. (Actually in my opinion the story started off well enough -I just didn't find where things went in the second half to be very satisfactory.) |

As long as okada or kawamori isn't involved I'm keen. Unless somehow the next macross anime gets animated by PAW which I doubt considering how synonymous kawamori is to satelite as shinbo is to shift. Don't want another aquarion evol or akb0048 afterall...

Marcus H's idea of "mecha" is a good one, since it would enable P.A. Works to maximize their considerable talent with beautiful sky/landscape scenery. Imagine a well-animated mecha fight against the backdrop of HSI's sky, or the backdrop of the watery depths of Nagi no Asukara. Other genres I'd be interested in seeing P.A. Works tackle are Magical Girl (simply because that's a personal favorite genre for me) and Idol (P.A. Works-style female characters would probably work well here).

From what I understand, it has almost zilch to do with the True Tears anime, aside from sharing the same name. Personally, I wouldn't consider this an adaptation. I'm not even sure I'd consider it a spin-off.
