Uchuu Kyoudai is an excellent show, but it is quietly excellent. It's not necessarily the type of show where you have a lot to say because it doesn't rely on plot twists or big reveals. It centers more on the characters.
I think the show did a wonderful job of making us care about everyone from Group A (and to a lesser degree Group B) where like Mutta we are going to be sad when this arc is over. I want them all to become astronauts. I am sure it's not possible, but I love how the show doesn't just have us rooting for Mutta.

No matter what anyone can say or do at this point, it's pretty obvious now that the members of Group A are practically family. Stick them together for a Mars mission and it's obvious how coherent and tight they will be and you can be sure it'll be a success.

Okay maybe I'm a bit slow but I just noticed that Mutta looks like his mom and Hibito like the dad.
Anyways Team A chose a simple solution on how they would decide the 2 members but I rather liked it and it fit their group. I still hope everyone from group A can pass somehow & Kenji. I really loved this arc in large part because I came to love the characters so much & I want them all to succeed. I was also surprised who had the top score in Team B, that character never made much of an impression on me but I guess that's the point.

I find it a bit interesting that there hasn't been any mention of JAXA's Total Party Wipe rule since it was introduced several episodes back: Anyone ragequits the sealed box, the whole team is disqualified. It should be obvious now why that rule is in place.
Until I saw three monitors in the surveillance room in episode 20, I had assumed that Team C may had fallen victim to this, and the reason we hadn't heard about them for so long was so that it could later be revealed that their team was out of consideration, at least with regards to this particular test. I guess I had that wrong. |

Yeah, Nitta has turned to be a cool guy, too. I'd like to found out more about him. He's the one who had the least amount of screentime among the five.
I have a good feeling they're all going to pass. Teshima being ranked first on Team B was really unexpected. Even more surprising is that Kenji is apparently pretty low. Nevertheless, I'm sure he'll pass. The personality of the candidates is also important, and Kenji's is perfect on that front.

The scene played too much like intentional misdirection. I expect it'll turn out that the jerkwad is upset because Kenji's in second while he's in last. It'd be a nice counterpoint to how Furuya accepted being in last place and was willing to let the better candidates get the nomination.

I expect Mizoguchi to be top 2, but not chosen as an astronaut unlike Kenji (and Furuya who looked happy and satisfied in the preview)
I can see the whole Team A passing the exam. (jury is still out on Fukuda, but he can't be the only one to fail, can he ?) |
