I think this is probably the reason. Sawaya is at a National-level. Chikako also foreshadows that she has an ability, or maybe a playstyle? That involves riichis, so probably she'd be a troublesome opponent.

Maya is probably a demon-level tier. I think she would be on par with Koromo as they stated that she is much more stronger than Sawaya.

I think what Ritz is doing now (based on the storyline) is great. Hisa's main trouble for this round is not because of a player or herself, but a player going to be busted.

I notice that Shindouji was in the same situation in Side-A but Sera and Ako ignored her? I guess it's mainly because both of them were close to being second, that's why scoring point is more important since there is a guaranteed yakuman.

In a way it feels like the Teru match with Kirame as focus, in other words, absolutely awesome. And a good way for Hisa to raise the Yuan flag at the same time. It is Hisa after all.

Guess she could also be attempting to end it so that their 4th and 5th don't have their game shown too early. Hide any surprises or emergency stuff for the final, just in case crap hits the fan then.

Also, really like the character development in Shinohayu so far. Kanna might have an ego problem but I think she's probably one of the more realistic characters, in terms of what makes her tick. I like her!

My guess is that Hisa will try something akin to what Mihoko did in the first round prefecturals. However it plays out, this match is already really really interesting.

yeah i think so, i think it's pretty logical that prefectural rules it's the same as national after all it's still in one tournament.


OMG i just read japanese mythology and i think this one clop perfectly with Miyanaga sibling, since we know that Teru power base on sun (Amaterasu) and this mythos is about Amaterasu, and i this saki is Tsuyukomi in this, well if it's true then really Saki is the greatest villain of all, and not to mention this mythos also have great implication of fish and food

Tsukuyomi was the second of the "three noble children" born when Izanagi-no-Mikoto, the god who created the first land of Onogoro-shima, was cleansing himself of his sins while bathing after escaping the underworld and the clutches of his enraged dead wife, Izanami-no-Mikoto. Tsukuyomi was born when he washed out of Izanagi's right eye.[4] However, in an alternate story, Tsukuyomi was born from a mirror made of white copper in Izanagi's right hand.

That was interesting to read. Yeah, I've always had this feeling that there's something a little more devious to Saki. You would have figured Saki would have had to explain her sister to *someone* she knows by now (since she keeps saying she needs to see her again, etc.), but since it's being purposely avoided...

Yes, but the problem is that one tsumo can end the game while Kiyosumi is still in 3rd.

But honestly, this episode was just painful for anyone who has already read the manga.

On a more cheerful note, there were moments that made me laugh precisely because I read the manga, like Kokaji talking about Rinkai getting a japanese player first in their lineup as if it was a bad thing, or Ritz actually trying to make Achiga look threatening. If it was only Shizu, maybe, and that's because I like Shizu, but what else can I do but laugh at that?

Another details
-Kokaji and Kouko make a great couple. I know it's common knowledge around here, but given the content of this episode, its worth bringing up again.
-It seems there are still a few cool males in the Sakiverse. We saw one of them today.
-Never thought I'd see Bundou being a badass, but there you go.
-The Kyoutarou and Hagiyoshi moment was awesome.
-What the hell is with Maya's lame hair color?
-I actually liked Usuzumi and Kasumi's voices.
-Toyone and Shiro's voices are still up for judgement.
-As much as I dislike Nodoka, couldn't help but laugh at her reaction to Saki losing her skirt.

Next time, the moment we've all been waiting for.

I think the show is going to be pressed enough for time as it is with the quarter finals and maybe the semis. I doubt there'll be time for that in anything but an OVA or something.

I actually don't mind using miyamori as the extra emphasis team, but I still kinda thought it was going to be himematsu, following the manga - that is, the team that will go through the sweet 16 with kiyosumi and then get eliminated in the elite 8, just like senriyama did on side a.

That being said, I would not be at all surprised if there were also extra eps, following the achiga hen anime pattern....

That's what I thought too...especially since Kyouko is modeled to be a big rival to Saki at the end. Or, they're saving her as a surprise for the anime viewers.
