So apparently Gensei is trying to make Mikoto go through a level 6 shift. I still found it ambiguous though whether he was talking about Touma or Mikoto as Aleister's favorite. I'm pretty sure he was possibly talking about Touma. On the bottom of that panel we could see him running towards the building and because Gensei isn't facing Mikoto, he could be referring to Touma who he sees approaching, but I'm not sure. He could be talking about Touma by using Mikoto to challenge Touma. That'd be a viable interesting interpretation too. This chapter really was great.

I can't wait for next month... Kamachi's so good that his sidestories are as good or better than the original story

The reason I refuse to believe it is because I want it to be true So I don't want to be disappointed

I really like Mikoto after all. She's my 3rd favorite character in raildex series after all

Yea... Touma is actual Aleister's favorite (yet one who actually can be troublesome when the times come too)

Maybe Gensei didn't notice it ? OR maybe he (Aleister) hid Touma so well that others thought it was someone else

After all doesn't most of scientist in AC thought Level 0 as useless ?

Even the directors aren't important, Aleister can replace them ever.

I also find funny the negation towards Mikoto being Aleister's favourite
To the ones that think that that doesn't makes sense. Shouldn't that make it more interesting? I think we'll know why she is the favourite one eventually and I'm looking forward to it.
(On the other hand, Touma being the favourite one would be kind of boring, because we know reasons for that)

My point is that Gensei was looking off of the face of the building when he said you are the favorite of Aleister hidden in the shadow of the main plan and Touma was running towards the building, I'm wondering if he was referring to Touma for that reason

Either way, it is certainly not obvious Aleister's favorite is Misaka because that has never been even a tiny bit apparent so I won't believe it without more evidence....

^There are 2 problems with that theory:
1. - He tilted his head towards Mikoto when he gave that answer.
2. - The buildings near Touma (page 26) ARE NOT on the big "zoomed-out" image with Exterior lab. (page 28)
Motoi Fukuyama is keeping consistency regarding the buildings on other images, so this is not just "badly drawn".
Touma is really nowhere near that building and due to the Zig-Zag placement of buildings and their heights, it should be completly impossible to see each other.

Thanks for the clarification. I maintain he still might have been talking to himself though because I do agree as has been mentioned before by Wilfriback that Kiharas do tend to do this.

I want it to be true... but I'm not going to assume Mikoto's Aleister's favorite. It's not like Kamachi's exactly known for changing his plot to appeal to the fans, so I don't think he would have made her Aleister's hidden favorite unless he originally planned to do so... though he might have done so just to appeal to railgun manga readers and get them more interested in Index

By the way, why does Gensei call Aleister, Aleister-kun? Isn't that a tad informal... has he ever used a kun formality before... Is Gensei actually older than Aleister? I'm guessing this means he doesn't know that much about Aleister most likely...
