I know what you mean. My stomach turns whenever I see "older brother" or something similar.

I thought it was a good enough first ep, really liked the animation. Once you cut down on the info dump and some of his inner monologue it has decent pacing, which is good because the enrollment arc is a pretty slow start, was awful for the manga. They were able to fit in a good mix of the action with the introductions.

Weird how they used the OP as the ED though lol. Was cool to see who was in it anyways.

^ it's not really uncommon when they put the actual OP at the end of the 1st episode though

Maybe due to me reading the LN quite slowly, the 1st ep feels a bit too fast-paced , quite an amount of details have been taken out but nothing serious

Finally, love the action sequence!!!

P.S: ep 1 covers up to the later half of chapter 2 in vol 1, so I predict vol 1 should take at most 3-4 episodes?

P.S: are we still in the "Upcoming Series" sub-forum?

I wasn't worried about those info dumps for a moment. As for the OP and ED, that's actually pretty normal. A lot of anime series switch them for the first episode.

The OP and ED ended up better than I expected. Great first episode. I disagree about the pace. Seems about right for the first episode.

Nice first episode,

I remember reading the novels long ago(until I dropped them around vol.4)

I see they make the expositions as short as they could handle and well.

That's it, I hope better BGM! The opening animation was good when Erika and the last part with the rivals fight. The song could have been better though.

First impression as anime: 6/10
