i also dont think he would've been able to satisfy hayama either in the beginning especially. His knowledge is very good but i dont think eh would've been able to satisfy somebody in Hayama's extreme plus in truth he was a bit lucky to get to the finale. Alice lost because her dish wasnt in the spirit of a bento box (her dish was better). Mimisuka was a copycat and although it was impressive that he was able to beat him the fact is Mimisuka's ability himself isnt that high he just copies the others.

Hayama is probably the only “fair” one, he would ask them to make something with spices. If you would make something good he would let you pass. The question is, could Souma make a dish that would have satisfied him. I personally doubt it.

Pretty sure that I put " assuming that Soma dishes satisfied them" in my question, but would they let Soma pass because his attitude.

In other word, will these guys judge impartially or they will let their emotions get better on them.

Again, just Alice, the other would tell him to fuck off if he kept that behavior(since most of them have that behavior too). Though in that situation I would not be so sure about Alice, she can be friendly but at the same time ruthless, who knows, if its a good day its ok, but if not, then he may end out like with the others.

hmmm, thinking back on it thats true though if I remember correctly, his furikake dish was able to elicit a reaction from Erina just from the smell alone right? I think if he made the same dish it would've at least made some of them interested in giving it a try tho I agree that Soma at the start would've probably been failed depending on the theme (ie curry or molecular gastronomy) btw as for Kurokiba...why do I get the feeling he might do something like make the candidates compete against each other like what Shinomiya did?

also I forgot to say this but I'm fine with Erina suffering a little for what she did or she apologises to Soma for it sometime later in the series XD

I know that Souma's new direction pretty much puts him in a course-road where he'll be learning from many others, but I feel it's kinda hilarious that his first one away from his father's path is Shinomiya, especially in light in Doujima saying how similar he was to young Shinomiya.

Because Shinomiya route for Souma, honestly feels like a goddamn downgrade. Right now, it feels like the Dojima/Jouichiro generation is still a class above the Shinomiya/Hinako/Fuyumi generation in terms of their scale and power-levels.

In retrospect, the end of the training camp Shoukgeki had been setting up for Shinomiya to become Soma's master when he took note of him and when he first approached him before leaving. The parallel between the two that Dojima drew only made it even more apparent.

The one thing that surprised me was that Megumi didn't meet him again, since I thought he would end up as being both Soma's and her teacher. But I suppose the author has other plans in store for her.

Does it? I honestly feel that the 79/80th generation were shown to be more independent and forward seeking than the 69th. Jouichirou ended up being a wandering chef who's goal was to travel the world and do whatever, and Dojima ended up being an instructor/teacher for the Nakari. They both are clearly capable chefs that had no equal in their generation, but I doubt Soma will find much to learn from them directly after going head to head with his father 500 times over the years.

What I feel Soma needs to advance now is someone who is also attempting to go to the next level and show him what he needs to develop. Shinomiya might not be as much of a monster on par with Dojima from what we seen, but his is still a talented chef who excelled while he was in Tootsuki and took a road in life that few people would've been able to succeed at. Same goes to Hinako and Fuyumi. If Soma wants to figure out what sort of cooking he needs to develop for his own self outside of the path he has been following this far, he needs a master like Shinomiya.

The most Dojima might do is give him sage advice same as he did with Akira after he won the tournament, but I doubt he can take him under his wing and teach him what he needs to do to break free of what he was.

The one person though we have yet to learn about in that group would be Hitoshi, but I feel he is cut from the mold as Shinomiya's gang.

Well, age and experience are obviously a factor, but the two-tops of the 69th at this moment, are still implied to basically be the only Level 99s of the series, what's with Doujima having the best scores in history, and is treated as the defacto alumni leader. And Jouichiro is nuff said.

I guess part of it is perception, due to the fact that the series now has very few upper-classman characters so far, but the 79/80th generation feel a lot more like upper-classman characters than they are teachers.
