Have we ever known how and why Kirito and Asuna separated in the earlier floors? Doesn't seem like it's been mentioned at all in the main and it's not yet gonna happen soon in Progressive. I see some small mentions of it in the ME chapters but the concrete details doesn't seem to have been given. Maybe in other places perhaps that I'm not aware of? It's something related to the Elf Campaign according to the ME chapters. If we take the Episode 0 of Ordinal Scale in Memory Defrag as true,

they were still together in the 10th-11th floor and the Elf Campaign ends in the 9th floor IIRC.

Maybe Kawahara still hasn't thought of the reason. It seemed serious because in the MEs, Kirito and Asuna don't seem to want to talk about it. Maybe an idea but Kawahara maybe hasn't formed a concrete plot to it.

I thought Kirito was a solo in the lower levels because it was more efficient leveling?

Question about alicization. Why did everyone forget Kirito after he left in the beginning?

Reki Kawahara says in his afterward to this first volume of the Sword Art Online: Progressive (SAOP) novel series that he was conflicted about bringing Kirito and Asuna together so early in the game. He fears that it will confuse readers and play fast and loose with the mythology established in his original series, but to readers (or viewers of the anime version) who felt that their relationship deepened too quickly the first time around, his fears seem unfounded. Seeing Kirito and Asuna begin their friendship, which we know will be interrupted further down the line before resuming, makes their later interactions much more believable and ultimately fixes part of the problem with their highly two-dimensional relationship.

After Kirito woke up from Alicization, I think I remember that he asked the doctor or something to erase his and asunas memories of the time he was the star king, but the dude created a copy of king kirito before he erased them from kirito. What happens with this copy kirito and does the original kirito ever get his memories of being the king back?

No, erasing memories of the time in Underworld is standard procedure. They have to do it because there's a limit to the amount of memories the human brain can store, so if they kept those memories their brain would overload and they would die.

Reki Kawahara has just updated his WordGear site with "Cradle of the Moon 2" (月の摇りかご２), and it still appears to be part of "Sword Art Online Extra Story 7".
Only one part has just been published, and it looks to be a continuation of the Moon Cradle story arc following the events of Volume 19. This means Volume 20 will likely continue the Moon Cradle arc.
