Another enjoyable episode from this very nice little series. Love when a series gives you the little stuff to enjoy. Like when Konatsu wondering about the first name basis of Wakana and Sawa, small stuff but makes a big difference to the enjoyment of a show. Sawa-chan with side ponytail = <3

But I want to know how famous is Mrs Sakai or rather I get the feeling that the crazy stalker is somewhat connected to the principal and the old guys in the town or the beach house. I can see the pig of the crazy stalker but I don't see him (probably still stalking her) in the beach house together with 2 other old musicians. The main problem problem of that italian guy is, he probably needs to learn japanese and stop going to hug or be forceful. He is like a real life stalker and needs to be put in jail.

Just realised I actually haven't done a episode review, but instead done meta posts based on other people's .
What can I say other than liking it a lot. Unlike the previous ep, there were no pacing problems this time round. This episode had a lot of comedy, but thankfully it hit for the majority of the time as well as being within boundaries. That foreigner guy was hilarious, the reverse troll with Konatsu in the bath scene was gold, Wein getting his sandwich ninjaed by a crow got me a lol and Wakana's "I don't money" line gave me extra loud lol. Some genuinely funny scenes indeed. Outside of the foreigner, nothing was too forced I felt. However, as all top notch slice of life/dramas go, you can't soley rely on comedy. As expected, there were still developments for the major drama/conflict that is inevitably going to come later in the series, particularly in regards to the music teacher and Wakana's mother. It seems that our foreigner friend knows her too since he did mention Wakana looking very alike to her. And there's going to be a music festival coming up. In other words, the plot still moved. Seriously, this is what some of the more comedic or lighthearted Hanasaku Iroha episodes should have been like. Spoiler for Certain Hanasucku episodes:

This shows been pretty solid so far, lets hope it keeps it up and avoids turning into the disappoint of Hanasaku Iroha. Way too many mediocre episodes, and terrible male characters.
Did anyone else notice Wakana looked kinda down after the badminton match? Was she just troubled by being dragged into a music club permanently? I'm also wondering how Wien will feature in the story. He's in the same supplementary classes as Wakana, but we havent seen them do anything with that yet and it seems unlikely he has any backstory connections with the rest of the cast.

Episode 3:
"Bouncy bouncy bunny hop" Pretty much explains episode 3. Just what book about Japanese Culture has he been reading!? I kid I kid. I am liking this anime, however, I do feel bad for Taichi. He just wants to play Badminton, but instead he's forced into a choir without any of the girls even caring that it's his dream to become a professional badminton player. I know I know, he agreed to the terms for losing, but he didn't intend for it to be a 3 on 1 (Or 2 if you want to count Atsuhiro) It was like "You're good at this, so I get 2 extra players" which to be honest is quite the unfair advantage, especially if they serve 3 different shots -_- I don't know. I'm expecting a scenario where a choir and badminton tournament/competition will coincidentally be held on the same day at around the same time kind of thing, causing them to argue and fight, so on so on etc etc. |

たりたり♪♪ 03 - I Am No Money
The Italian guy with the pig will be one of this show's memorable characters. Now if only Wakana could understand his language. Another enjoyable episode. The badminton match was chaotic, in the best way, and Wakana continues to be the inspirational girl that makes this show worth watching. The idea for a Choir and Sometimes Badminton Club was actually pretty inspired. And the old guys on the guitars rock. For as cheesy as next week looks, with its cultural stereotypes, I still look forward to seeing it. Celebrating music is always something to cheer about. |

I don't hold SOG up as any kind of classic (this show either, probably) but I thought it was quite good - especially in the first half. And the comedic highs were very high - that show had some very, very funny situation-driven comedic moments, and I see something of the same quality here.

This show remains very enjoyable to watch. I found the scenes with the Italian-but-actually-Spanish guy highly amusing. Wakana's horrible English was hilarious "I am no money!". I'm curious to find out how that guy knew Wakana's mother despite not speaking of Japanese.
Konatsu's idea to fuse the Choir and Batminton club was smart (everybody wins this way) and yet idiotic at the same time. They're lucky the principal is so lenient, that kind of stunt wouldn't have worked on anybody else, and certainly not the vice principal. I wonder if we'll get to see Taichi's competition or if the anime will focus solely on the Choir club.

I'm still hopeful that this can turn out to be some kind of classic. It isn't there yet, but it hasn't fouled its nest. __________ As for romance, no hints yet, but there is still time. Better a late-developing real romance than a long romance that never really blossoms. I can't imagine any actual yuri; Konatsu just likes Sawa in a warm, touchy-feely kind of way. I thought the Spaniard recognized the little figure as an item he wants for his collection, but the idea that he knew Wakana's mother and she had the same figure makes a bit of sense. Otherwise, his mention of hair and eye colour would be comparing Wakana to the figure. Maybe mama had the same one, way back when. Pardon me for being leery of Japanese stereotypes of foreigners. The two figures of fun in this show so far are both European.

Episode 3 was a really breezy and enjoyable watch. Lots of good, quirky humor with just the right amounts of tension and drama overlaying it.
I agree with Pocari Sweat - This is what HSI's more lighthearted episodes should have been like, imo. I have to agree with those that found the Italian/Spanish guy with the pig hilarious. I just loved the total randomness of that. In fact, "randomness" is one of this show's real strong suits, as it has nice scene-to-scene unpredictability. It makes for an engaging and zestful viewing experience. On the relationship front, I'm not seeing much there myself. Even as a big yuri fan, I'm not seeing much hope of yuri here. ...Well, I do see the potential of past yuri between Sakai's mom and the harsh Assistant Principal. The two of them being girlfriends that never worked out would fit that dancing sequence in the OP, as well as why the Assistant Principal is so grouchy in a tsundere way. On a broader relationship front, something might happen just from having a club with three girls and two guys in it. But as is, the bit that's come the closest to het romance was Wien earnestly asking Sakai if she was coming along, and Sakai then politely saying "no". Yeah... when that's the best you have to work with, it's slim pickings for serious shippers.

First thing of all.
Sawa with a side pony tail = <3 <3 Also she's rather good at persuading people. To her, it seems so natural. Anyways. Although some people might find Wien a bit annoying, I think he's pretty cute in a way with all his oddness and false understanding about Japan. Somehow I can sort of see him grow up to be like that pig guy lol! Wakana as always have start to grow closer and closer to the group. There were times she look down but in the end it seems she made up her mind to join the group which is why she uncrumpled the club sheet after the vice principle tried throwing it away (nice block Taichi haha). I'm really interested to see more of what she's thinking and her past experiences. Also her attitude to win is not really stuck up so I don't see how trying to win means you are stuck up. Also her expressions and the surprised sound she made when pig guy saw her at the crossroad was really cute! The viceprinciple. Goodness she's annoying. However I'm really looking forward to seeing her reasons because it always seem since that she's not happy about something which caused her to act the way she did whenever it's related to music. Not only that but the part in the opening with her and Wakana's mother as hinted there's a lot more to what we see of her now. She's annoying but interesting at the same time heh. Konatsu... sweet move you did there with the clubs. Combine badminton and choir! Nice! Also love how she knew beating Taichi would be hard so how about 3 vs 1 with 3 shuttlecocks! Poor Taichi. Also feel bad for her brother. Turns out your mother knows everything. Lol!

Well, it's official. This show has taken a hold of me, and I'm in it for the long run!
Let me list the ways this episode alone, rocked: - Hilariously strong start with our now favourite Jap-talian Terminator. (Seriously, when Wakana looked back and saw him running that had me roaring with laughter) - Sawa (taking jabs at Konatsu) - Taichi's Sister - Bunny Hops - That badminton match (ranging from awesome to hilarious) - SAWA (Bikini AND side ponytail!? Be still, my heart) - Eternally awesome old guys So, now that I'm done praising the entire episode...bring on next week! Oh, and to weigh in on the possibilities of romantic relationships here, I honestly don't think there will be any. If there are, I'll be pleasantly surprised...but even more surprising is the fact I won't mind a bit if there aren't any at all. This comes from a guy where usually that's a main factor to the shows I favour.

I believe she was in the Music stream and switched to the General stream, and there were some classes that the Music students didn't take, to give them time for music, so she had to make them up when she switched.
