This anime isn't my favourite so far this season but it's pretty decent as well.
I like the build up horror moments that tend to crack up in slapstick/comedy, really adds to a special feeling the anime is giving away. I also noticed higurashi references in the latest episode. I don't even mean the "Spirited Away" stuff but some of the semi-silhouette faces remind me of certain moments of the said anime. Spoiler for example:
Also: Teiichi -> Keiichi? (And kinda looks alike) Just coincidence? |

Nope. From her disposition towards Yuuko, Kirie doesn't really want anything to do with her except help Teiichi discover the cause of Yuuko's death. Despite being blood relatives they aren't fond of each other as seen in the first episode.

Even though this series doesn't have uh, certain genres to it, I still found myself glued to each ep so far. There are some anime that I actually pause and distract myself of something else I deem more important, but not this series. I know it's not the horror aspect, I do know one thing, I like that OP song, gives me the same electrified feeling Marika Pirates gave me. I also like how the voices are every bit I thought they'd be being a long time reader of the manga. And then there's that mischievous Yuuko-chan, ah I wouldn't mind if she haunts me I guess all that keeps me interested. Kiri got some nice legs too Quote:
You? A ghost? Then we'll imagine you to be Dick Tracy or Inspector Gadget. Or would you prefer Inspector Clouseau? |

For me, ep4 was another lovely episode. Yuuko is such a good character, attractive and soulful. Kudos to Hara Yumi for that light but sultry voice. And Kudos to the staff for some entrancing Shafty imagery this episode. I'm actually enjoying the anime even more than the few chapters of manga I read.

After watching episode 4, I can't help but feel a bit disappointed. From a purely anime standpoint it was a good episode and the scenes with Yuuko and Teiichi together were very romantic. I suppose its because I've read the manga and the changes done for this arc wasn't entirely to my liking. Though I can understand Silver Link altering stuff from the manga, there was a particular incident right after Yuuko and Teiichi finding the "cursed stone" (and Yuuko's prank) which I felt should have been included since it was relevant to her death. They running around the school was a bit of a time waster IMO. The part where the shadow figure before Kirie could have been done more creepier. Overall I still enjoyed this episode but it wasn't as good as the previous one. Looking forward to the next episode and hoping that there aren't more alterations from the source material.

I'm not going to count that this will be an anime original ending yet. Sure it has changes from the source material but I think its still early to make that call. There are other anime with much more changes than this yet still had a succeeding season. I'll wait for around 3 or 4 more episode to see if that's a possibility.

The bell under Yuuko's memorial stone was a pretty blatant "there was a thing here in the manga that was obviously a clue, but hasn't been explained yet, so we changed it to something we will be able to explain by the end of the anime" moment. There was no reason to change that unless they were aiming for an original ending. Since the manga hasn't ended and hasn't explained many of Yuuko's mysteries yet, the anime either has to make up its own ending, or it has to just not have any definitive ending at all. In the latter case, there is simply no point in changing the object under the stone. If they're not going to use that clue to solve the mystery, there is no reason to change it from what it originally was. But they did change it, making it plain that they intend to go with the former route and make up their own ending.
