Except that the incident with the car accident with Takeshi and Gekkou happened a few years in the past. Magicians were not supposed to use magic in the real world then, and Takeshi should have gain magic at that point instead of present day.

As to the second part, that's a bit more vague. There could be any number of explanations however, since we don't really know the details behind what kind of spell it was, when it was placed, etc. |

Okay... So I start watching ep.12 and it starts out very strangely... why is Takeshi going back home? I thought he was going to save Kurumi. Then I think, crap, I must've forgot to watch last week episode. So I check it out... I saw this already! WTF IS HAPPENING?! The wrong episode aired? I think the story skipped like 4 episodes worth of content. Meh... the story was pretty amateur to begin with. Other people here already nitpicked about it, and I share some of their sentiments.
Story and pacing aside, I really have a complaint with how the mood for the final scene went... Was it terrible writing? Did the seiyuu give up? Did the voicing studio only give him one chance since they don't care anymore? I'm talking about the way Takeshi was acting when he found out he was in the past. He's so freaken monotone! Can't you put any emphasis on your words? That entire scene made me more pissed than how the direction of the story went! I mean, wth happened there?! It was super annoying! Overall, I find this show below average. Once again, let me put the story aside and talk about the characters. First of all, two characters that got on my nerves: Kurumi and Kazumi. Kurumi, turn off bitch mode please! And stop acting like such a damsel in distress... imo there's a good way and a bad way to do that, she's the latter. And Kazumi, stop looking like a Gilgamesh clone, damn faker. Now for the characters I liked. I only found three characters interesting in this show, which are: Mui, Towa, and Momoka. Mui was plain at first but started getting cute all of a sudden when her brother came back, I need my moe fix now and then. Next is Momoka. I'm curious about her past, so I've taken an interest in her. And last, Towa, a sword you can talk to. Takeshi, talk to your damn sword! Why give an object the ability to talk and a visual persona if you're not going to show the viewer that people (or maybe only Takeshi) interacts with it? She's even in the OP like a super important character... I don't get it, what did the anime not include here? 5/10. Because I like the art style and the three characters I mentioned. The super powers were interesting, but that's pretty much it. This show doesn't deserve a much higher rating imo.

I don't really like her though. I don't know, she's just not interesting, and there's just something about the design that ticked me. Or maybe it was that this particular image looking a bit weird, something with her head.
To me, the redeeming quality of the show is its mockability and Gekkou. The kid was just so entertaining to watch that I keep on rooting for him.

Mahou Sensou. Last Thoughts
Today, I'm finishing up all the shows that I picked-up for the recently past season in one swift go.
All in all, I chose Mahou Sensou because MADHOUSE was behind production, unfortunately, the whole show turned bland and dull during its straight run. The premise and plot inclines heavily upon Takeshi and Gekkou's strained relationship which finally escalates into an all-out war at the final episode. The focus on Kazuma's reasons along with Chigi and the Headmistress either get diluted or disjointed that the focus itself gets lost just to pave way for war between Takeshi and Gekkou. Truth to be told, the ending itself was virtually weird and odd. I mean we do not know whether Takeshi was sent into the past or got trapped inside an illusion world created by Gekkou or the Headmistress. However, what I can possibly make out of that situation maybe is that Kazuma is trying to convey the truth to Takeshi, but in order for the lad to truly grasp it, hence, he must both witness and feel it by itself. Nevertheless, if Gekkou happened to tamper with that past or illusion world, then Takeshi got trapped into a nightmare world with no possible way of getting out. Honestly, the show itself was generic as well as shabby, and I'm not holding hopes for a second season ever materializing given how messed up ended this series. If good things this title has to offer those would be the OP & ED songs and the soundtrack. |
