Its not even the ending that's the problem. Its the structure of the story that is the problem.

Spoiler:

We ended Itsuwari with a great fight to death of two rivals who both went to the grave as warning for the use of the masks.
They set up those two great countries, Yamato and Tuskuru with very clear build up towards some big conflict.
They set up Haku as this savior who is burdened with restoring human race, who has forsaken himself to fulfill the ideals and goals of not one but two dead people he knew - a brother by blood and a brother by trust.
They set up Kuon as this uber powerful god-child.
The trailers hyped up both countries and the huge super conflict.

And then most of that is shelved, Tuskuru is literally pushed aside, Vurai is back just for sake of having more giant bosses, half the plotlines literally get nuked away with space lasers and we spend time dealing with this civil war stuff that should by all means been the first half of this game and not the second.
And then we move on to the ending that does not feel in anyway conclusive or satisfying and takes steps towards even weirder stuff that just feels...convenient?

Its literally like the last 70% of the game was cut away and replaced with something different at the last minute. A lot of build up and hints and set up feels like it leads to literally nowhere.

Like the war, Humanity's restoration and the ending that feel inconclusive (I hate open ending), Vurai's survival isn't surprising, he just fell off the cliff, that's too cliché and predictable

Oh, Haku and Kuon happened to find some Avu kamus in a ruin in Tuskuru while they are looking for the Master Key.
Or as Haku know them as, Abel heavy industry made, extreme work humanoid heavy machinery Kamuru Mark 3. Abel Kamuru.

Maybe he need the key to access the secret lab in yamato. Woshisu probably locked all possible entrance so Haku will need a key to get into? I dont know haven't play the and the stream people havent gone far into the story yet.

After the civil war concluded, Haku and Kuon found out that the emperor was still alive, and learnt the reason why the Emperor invaded Tuskuru was because he wanted the Master Key, a key that could make every ruin operatable.
In hope of finding a way to maybe save the Tatari, Haku, Kuon and the twins heads to Tsukuru to look for it since it had been used there over ten tears ago.
Haku and Kuon is alone there because Kuon said that only her and one more could enter that ruin.

Smart idea Kuon, just press some random buttons and activate one of the units(the color of the unit turned from red to white when Kuon activated it).

Well, now Kuon has a remote controlled giant robot, even though Haku wants Kuon to throw away the remote since the Unit will follow them when Kuon has it.

That's certainly very pretty for a plot reset button.

Altho I liked the more "abstract" ones in the first game more. Felt more AC.Clarke-esque. This just looks alien. Badass, but alien.

As far as I've come, they only killed the Tatari that the Emperor had collected.
There still are more out there in Yamato and Tuskuru.
They didn't fire Amaterasu to get rid of the Tatari, but to make sure the ones in the Capital doesn't escape and swallow Yamato.
And firing didn't come without a cost, Yamato is currently in eternal winter and Haku needs to get access to the satellite to restore the seasons.

Not that I know how they should deal with them otherwise anyway, Iceman said that it's impossible for him to restore them.
Every wish needs a payment, and for every Tatari the payment was for eternal body was their shape and intelligence.
If someone wished for the Tatari to become human again, who will pay for that? If someone made that wish and Iceman granted it, it would be a disaster to the world due to the payment Iceman needs for it to happen.

Wow, I knew they would pull something stupid like this. Rather than bring back Kuuya and Sakuya to give them closure and resolution, let's tease the fans with stuff that reminds you of them, but they're not the same thing at all! Haha, fooled you!

See, this is what I have a problem with. They had the Avu Kamuu used by the Shakukopolu from the first god damn game. They could have easily made this a means to bring back Kuuya and Sakuya since they were directly connected to them. Instead, they pull this new thing out of their ass. Why? What is the justification for this? It's completely stupid.
