I felt a bit reluctant following this anime after the last episode but after reading your comment, I actually went and endured the episode (of Motoyasu's stupidity & James Bond let-me-explain-all-of-my-plan-in-detail-before-I-fail-to-kill-you villain of a Pope) and...yeah.
It really does remind me of that scene from Gundam Unicorn, but in a smaller scale and less "oomph" (Beware Spoilers): https://youtu.be/b89R9jZc65g?t=413 @Moderators, the above video of the episode is legal btw. It's from the official Gundam channel.

i feel like having a main villain show up now is a the laziest way to get heroes to reconcile. I don't look forward to seeing motayasu and that girl redeemed. i feel like they should have individually suffered their bad decisions a bit more,
