Yeah ED was extremely diabetic, but I love the OP animation more. I was caught by surprise at the part before the title comes up where Cocoa is about to rush in and kiss cuddle Chino. This season is quite generous with the new BGM soundtracks as well even though they could just stick with the S1 tracks.
So it has been a year already, I was wondering what's keeping Chino from calling Cocoa "onee-chan"? I mean it's obvious that at this point Cocoa will never gonna stop treating Chino like her imouto anyway so calling her that isn't gonna change anything. |

I think that's just how Chino is. The episode showed that while she'd like to be more like Cocoa it isn't easy. She still struggles with openly smiling in public, changing isn't easy. Plus....it's probably out of safety. You give Cocoa a single "onee-chan" and she'll go crazy . Or as with the lion metaphor, Chino must ration those out. Only give in now and then to keep Cocoa hungry for more .

Someone must have remembered just how plain the ED visuals were last season (I've actually been rewatching season one, so I literally finished an episode of that right before I came and watched this), so they chose to go full-bore in the other direction.
I would say that this episode was a step up in the visual department from what I've been watching: both with art, and animation (there's notably more movement going on in this episode than the ones I've been seeing), but just one step. The first season went to some lengths to be very pretty, so while there may be a bit of improvement here, there's not a lot further they can push it without risking it being overanimated, and overkilling it with the scenary porn. Simply put (at least I think this is simply) they can't really improve the visuals too much from the first season without the visuals themselves becoming an impediment to the nature of the series. TLDR: This was very pretty and nice. Looking forward to meeting Cocoa's sister.

Best show of the Fall season, calling it now. Maybe even AOTY for me, that's how much I love this show. S1 was already perfect, but this exceeded even my highest expectations. The combined force of White Fox and Kinema Citrus is one to be feared. Man, it's good to have this show back. Missed it so much.
If I have to name one 'flaw', it would be that the OP has less impact on me than the first one. Of course, the visuals are nice, but the song itself didn't really do me much. However, that ED made up more than enough for it. So cute, so, so very cute. ^_^ As for the episode itself, never a dull moment. Chiya has to be most photogenic girls of the main five, though Sharo is no slouch in that regard, either; it takes just a bit more effort. Loved the paparazzi skit Megu and Maya pulled on Chino. As sweet as those girls are, they can get some dangerous ideas in their heads. Also, am I the only one who thought that Megu's anti-kidnapping alarm sounded really creepy? And even the BGM never felt out of place. Loved the suspenseful music they played before Cocoa opened the magazine. This has probably been the hardest I've laughed this season so far and it's been the best start of the shows I've seen this season so far. Then again, the competition seems rather weak, so that's not really hard to pull off.

BTW, did anybody spotted what appears to be Chiya's grandma in the OP? Last edited by teja208; 2015-10-11 at 22:34. |

i think Rize doesn't need her gun to kill, her smile alone could wipe out entire armies on the planet!
still its a mystery on who is Rize's dad, does he fund a G.I. Joe styled organization that combats a Cobra-ish group? at least we get to see Chino's mom in full glory, her dad is lucky of a dude, also did anyone noticed a hilarious hindsight on when Cocoa was taking Chiya's pictures from different angles which some looked like she was taking an upskirt pantyshot of her?

Finally got around to seeing the first episode. Wonderful. Just wonderful to have the show back. The cast is really back in full swing too! Chino was a delight throughout the whole episode. Rize's smile... gosh that was super cute.
Syaro is as cute as ever too for me. Chiya's moments of smugness were admirable and fearsome in some ways.... The most unexpected thing, was definitely the whistle moment with ChiMaMe. That....that really can't be a healthy sounding sheep. It was really nice to have a glimpse of Chino's mother too. And of course the ED. Good lord. I was hearing about it being such a death dealing blow of overloading diabetes. But I did not expect it to be that deadly. Well beyond what I was imagining. Just....jeez. I can't believe the staff was so ballsy there, trying to literally murder who knows how much of their own audience. Not that I wouldn't mind dying again and again when watching it. Also I am surprised and delighted at the new tracks for the season so far... Kawada Ruka did such a fantastic job in the 1st season. Can't wait to hear more pleasant tracks now!

I heard that in the Ending, there's a scene where Chino plays Rock, Paper and Scissor.
In this episode Chino played scissor, it is meant for the watchers to play the game with Chino during the Ending because she plays different one in each episode every week. Does anyone already aware of this? Disregard this if anyone already knows. Very cute ending and on top of that, playing Rock, Paper, and Scissor in the middle, the idea is quite something. Just see the first episode ending again for the timing she plays and maybe we all decide which one to show against Chino on the next episode, I'm going to play a paper. |

I wonder if this is a faint nod towards the idea of Mahou Shoujo Chino from some time back?

A term in tea leaf grading, to keep up with the theme. Tippy's full name is "Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe," BTW.
