sigh....the anime team ruin the infirmary scenes from the light novel.....
What anime didn`t show: 1) Kodaka panic expressions when he saw Rika on the floor in Rika lab 2) Kodaka carrying Rika and rushing towards the infirmary 3) The scenes where Rika made Kodaka read out the BL was way shorter than the novel 4) The part where Rika almost demo to Kodaka the sensation of nibbling a person ears |

Dr. Casey: Well, I don't own a gun that can kill someone from the anime world, so Kodaka is safe.
That said, Kodaka acted way tense than I expected him to be, and I can be a socially awkward person too. His fits of denial within these two episodes really showed how much of a wuss he is. Otonashi from Angel Beats would have handled things better, imo. Quote:

Lol. Looks like Sena might be an even bigger beyatch than Yozora, with her nonchalantly abusing her power as Chairman's daughter. I mean, I do remember her saying something to the same effect with Yozora at the beginning of S1, but this time she actually used her position to keep the club going.
And whoah, Sena throwing the gauntlet down. Hah! Take that Rika... But yeah, Yozora quivering with fear was so frigging MOE! Repeated that part like 10x over, as that and the noise Sena made when she got swatted by Yozora were too cute for words. XD

Just because I can understand the reasons why Kodaka did what he did does not mean I have to agree or like what he did. For example, I can understand why you ate my pizza (hunger and thoughtlessness), but you're not going to get a very happy response from me.
Yes, Kodaka is immature and has his own issues. That does not mean that his actions are excused because of those things. His action was thoughtless and selfish. He does not want to lose what he has. He is afraid to move forward. He did not properly respond to 2 different girl's feelings, and he ran away from both, being relieved both times for running away. Now, how will he resolve this? First, he should have a heart to heart talk with Sena and explain himself. Then, he needs to explain his reasons to the club. They are his friends afterall, so they should be able to understand. Hopefully, if the school president is as great as Yozora makes her out to be, he might be able to get some good advice from her. Maybe then, he can move forward. With next episode's title, it is a little obvious how things will end this season.

Though, while we're on the subject, I do disagree and have always found your stance towards romance in this series rather inexplicable. I could understand finding it jarring for a series to abruptly introduce a new story element deep into the story whenever it had always been nonexistent beforehand, but that's not the case here. Romance might not have played a role in the very first episode, but it's been a factor since very early on; I haven't watched the first season since its original Autumn 2011 airing, but I would safely bet that Sena and/or Yozora show feelings for Kodaka by the end of the second or third episode. I'm not sure what to take away from your posts other than "Stories are not allowed to evolve beyond their original premise, and they can never introduce story elements or themes unless they're present from the very, very beginning." (Not meaning to sound rude here, it's just honestly what you read like...) Quote:

Redhead chibiko was the one trying to abuse the student council's power to close the club just to attack Sena for being (in her mind) too perfect. So retaliating with the same strategy is poetic justice if you ask me. |

I really don't see how anyone can really hate Kodaka honestly, to me it's damn near impossible unless you are just a hateful person.
The dude obviously cares for everyone in the club, he understands that they are all friends, but dose not what that notion to destroy what they have now which is something he has not had in 10 years. Is that selfish, yes but damn near everyone in the neighbors club is selfish to some degree. Obviously Kodaka and his little sister both have serious mental issues when it comes to getting close to people and losing a parent and being alone because your dad isn't home may be the cause of many of those problems. But the dude isn't a bad guy, he's broken yet trying to hold on to what he has found after being labeled my most people as a delinquent/bully ect. for most of his life. Besides as much as I love Sena (and boy do I ever) you can't just hit a guy with both a confession and marriage proposal outta left field like that. Most normal guys in high school would do the same thing too and run for the hills. |

If Kodaka leaves the Neighbors Club and joins the Student Council with the President that Yozora obviously hates...poor Yozora. That would make it the second time that Kodaka leaves her. Yozora should just get hit by a car and lose all her memory of him. She would live...a better life.

I suspect that this is occurring at various junctures in both Haganai and OreImo, with certain plot points being introduced due to characters that unexpected become much more popular than the respective authors originally contemplated. It's just a feeling that I get of course, no concrete evidence on my part except for a few patterns and comments that I may be reading too much into.

Oh man, what a good episode. So many things to talk about.
Sena has really matured lately, it's impressive. She's become less carefree/whiny and more mature and serious. Using her father's position was pretty damn ballzy. I'm glad to see she can really stand her own against Yozora and the rest of the group. Yusa is so cute. I hope she can join the club, because she really doesn't look like she has many friend's either. It sort of feels like it's shaping up to be that way. Glad to see another Kate appearance, regardless how short. Now finally onto Kodaka. If anything, he's being NICE to the girls. He's sacrificing himself for the group. He's allowing them to continue to have fun in the club, because he knows once he starts a relationship with one of them, the club will come crumbling down. And it won't be pretty. He's really considerate when it comes down to it. Looking forward to the final episode! |

Finally this episode, but sad that so much funny material was left out. As for Kodaka, he is in a very tough situation to deal with. No matter what action he could have taken, it would still have affected the 'intact' convivence of the club members up to that point to some degree. At this point he was pretty much fighting against his reason to try to keep eveything as it was for however long he thought would be possible. Rika dealt the first blow but Sena inflicted the fatal one.
If I were in his shoes I would probably speak my mind out at that instance, but then it would most likely affect his relationship with Sena, but then again, fleeing could pretty much give the same results.... in other words there's no way out for Kodaka, poor man...... |

- rika rika rika <3, she 's just so awesome
- yozora on the bouncebackfirst with that statement for rika, then with that defence for the club - sena too showing her wares on the defence. - and Kodaka................... Quote:
=== you know I think I'll say something about Kodaka after all, it seems a lot of people are attributing his actions as coming from "wanting to save the club" and "doing it for the girls" but I never see his actions as such. It's not as if maintaining the status quo by sacrificing honesty & integrity is a good base for true friendship (that's their club's goal isn'tit?). For me it's nothing more than his own personal issues and he is not protecting anyone but himself, and yeah I somehow understand how he can be like that, a bit, but not really since we haven't been shown how it came to be. Still he came across as really wussy.
