There is an official start date now. Ai Tenchi Muyou will air on October 6, 2014, at 9:55 JST on Tokyo MX.

Also, on the official site, the characters have been cleaned up and the anime versions are shown.

Mihoshi and Ryoko look good. Ayeka looks kinda plain. Sasami looks alright. Something about Washu looks off to me. Maybe it's the hair?

Yeah, there seems to be a couple things off with Washu. Yes, the hair is not as awesomely outrageous. The other thing that is off is that Washu used to take a child-like form because of her history. She had no chest. This new version turned her loli with a sizable chest. She is also dressed more adult-like as well.

She's been loli-fied. I guess to appeal to fans of those types of characters. It doesn't work for me. That and Ayeka's very plain feel. I like the leg markings. But with her new look I just get this "meh" feeling. Admittedly, I'm nitpicking at this point. I guess it's cause Ayeka was my favorite.

I miss the crab-like hair style of Washu. Ayeka is also my favorite as well as Sasami and I'm... a bit fine with their new designs. The one really off with me is Washu. she is supposedly the mad scientist and not the loli scientist.

Ep. 1: It looks better than I anticipated. I thought this might be something like a Flash animation, but it was pretty conventional. I'm not so sure about the level of fanservice though. Lots of panty shots, which doesn't really seem to fit Tenchi. The new characters are cute enough, but damn when is Tenchi going to lose that rat tail. I know it's a trademark of his design, but he might as well be sporting a mullet.

So Tenchi is 22 in this series (skipped right over his college days). I think that's about 6-7 years older than all the other Tenchi series? Sasami will be a teenager in this one then. None of the original girls showed up yet, I hope it doesn't take too long to see them.

So not a bad start, a bit better than I was expecting. I still don't know why they are doing the four minute episodes. I thought it would be more short gag material, but so far it looks like a normal 20 minute episode split up.

It's going to take a bit of time for me to get used to the artwork but the first episode was actually okay. Honestly, I think this show would of been better as a regular 24 minutes series.

Wait, did Tenchi already got caught in a kiss? I think so..

Thought it was a regular size anime.
Seeing one episode lasts around 4 minutes, I'm disappointed..
Masaki looks interesting & the girls look fun.
Still, it's a shame that it's so short.
Skipping it.

As hopeful and glad as I was that a new Series in the Tenchi Universe was coming,
I do feel disappointment in the format -5 minutes- having to wait a weeks to get the equivalent of one episode.

Having said that, I will still watch the series, mainly because I enjoy the Tenchi-verse, and, whatever it's faults with Washu, I kinda like the Character Design.

Not a fan of the past bunch of tenchi spin-offs, really miss the old gang.

That being said, I did enjoy the 1st episode, even though it was only 4minutes.

War on Geminar is among my favorite animes

even though it had tsundere's which I dislike beyond belief

quick question how come there hasn't been a direct continuation to the OVA did the last one not do well or something.

-_- 1st episode is okay but 2nd episode is bad.... I can't help feel face palming most of the time. its irritating because they do an exact continuation from the first episode meaning its a continues episode. So why 4 minutes only!!! it will be hard watching this.

I don't have much problem on tenchi series spin offs and movies but this is just plain fan service feast. even the skirt has slit on the waist line that let you peek on the panties. ugh... disappointment. I thought it would sate my hunger for more on tenchi verse but it didn't. Its a good thing we saw a glimpse of Washu on 2nd episode.

War on Geminar is fun to watch and it has a lot of what made the first tenchi muyo really good but also a bit of what made it really really bad. The good part about WOG was the fact that you had a kid whose a badass and didnt really flaunt it in fact he almost doesnt acknowledge how good he actually is.
The bad part of Tenchi Muyo is the spineless nature of the MC in the harem element even in the face of what is a clearly beneficial situation. Its funny i feel like Tenchi is kinda everyone from that generation's first experience of what many people hate in the modern harem MC. He's a badass when it comes to fighting but he's an absolute wimp when it comes to women.
