Its funny how you come to that conclusion from one episode of vivid. Wait until the tournament comes and then judge.

If it's as bad as some of Seven Arcs prior stuff or their own Morgiana (Magi) dance sequence they'll fix it. They've also fixed Birdy Decode S2....

Erm? I actually said that I still hope they're just saving to make tournament fights properly. I complained about OP but I didn't say other things will be bad. But ramlean started saying that it's fine as it is, so I decided to argue about it.

Ah, it is nice to have Nanoha back after all this time. Kind of funny it's been less time in the series since we've seen them since the show actually aired . Despite the fact that it's been years on both counts.

For some reason those eyes of Vivio are going to drive me nuts. Such strong alternating eye colour is tricky to deal with.

But anyways, it's good to have the show back. Nice to see parts of the cast again. Kind of funny that Nouve ended up being this teacher character with how things went for her in StrikerS. The transformation scene was sure flashy .

Just a lot of nostalgia for this episode. Seein Ix, Nanoha and Fate, even Caro and Erio. Just a comfortable first episode.

Overall, a pretty decent start. Pretty much had the pacing I expected, given that ending the first episode with Ingvalt's appearance was just about mandatory. As for the animation, Nanoha has never really been a leader in that department; it wasn't so bad that I was cringing (like a certain episode of A's I could mention...), so I'm not unhappy about it.

Spoiler for Episode vs Manga:

Nanoha has always seemed to depend a lot more on the viewers being knowledgable in the other media involved (drama CDs, manga, etc.) to understand the context of what you're watching a lot more than any other anime franchise I've ever seen.

I should remind you all that all the shipping stuff is hardly our cup of tea, and we certainly don't want incidents to occur that already happened in the past. Such behaviour will be dealt accordingly if deemed necessary.

While you are free to comment how a series production values fare compared to its prequels, please do not allienate the subject with that. By all means, stick with the said episode instead.

The animation isn't that bad, just that they spend most of their budget and effort on the transformation scene, which mahou shoujo shows do tend to splurge on for the very first transformation. As long as it isn't the crap we saw that the original broadcast of StrikerS turned into... anyway it's great to see Nanoha & company animated again after so many years.

It's to be expected that the quality will drop after the first 2 or 3 episodes.
We should pray that A1 is saving part of the budget for the big fights.
At least what we have seen so far isn't as bad as StrikerS TV version.

Hmm ... well, that was not a bad ep to ease the viewer back into things by any means. I may need to watch it a few times to get a clearer idea of who everyone is and remember what they are part of, etc., etc.

Will give it a few more eps, though. ^^

Saw the episode finally. Well the animation and art scares were pointless as there's nothing wrong with them. Been so long since I've seen a Nanoha series I've mostly forgotten the voices and I can't be bothered to compare them. Even if they are different they're fine to me. I feel good about this series and will enjoy it's light heartedness I think. Looking forward to more.

The voices are fine. Vivio sounds a bit older (which she is) but it's still the same voice. Nanoha and Fate sound like Nanoha and Fate, Erio and Caro sound like Erio and Caro, Nove sounds like Chiwa Saito, and the rest of the Numbers aren't important enough for me to have bothered remembering what they sounded like so it doesn't matter. Everybody (important) is voiced as they should be (everybody unimportant probably is too, I just dont't remember their voices).

Nanoha and Fate being MILFs and all you have to wonder why nobody tried to marry them.

On Vivio being able to transform to an adult as it would be inevitable a guy would hit on her. Then again that probably the reason for the Nakajima sisters being her guards.

If a guy does seduce Vivio he'll receive more than just a Starlight Breaker to the face from Nanoha.

Avoiding all that nonesense is why Nanoha had Vivio make that promise about when she would and wouldn't use her adult form. Anyone who sees her in that form will also have seen her in her regular form, and thus will know that she's really a ten-year-old girl. Anyone who still tries to hit on her would be a lolicon and would have earned the couple-dozen different types of magical and physical beatdowns that would be headed his way.

If a guy tried to hit on Vivio being so young her mothers wouldn't like it so much I think.
Her mothers are either married together or in a similar kind of legal union that allowed to adopt Vivio according to the official material, hitting on them wouldn't be wise.

For all the complaints about the animation of the episode, I expected it to look bad. What I got was... average, which is actually better than some episodes of StrikerS that looked very, very strange back when it was airing.

It's clear that they're devoting the animation effort to certain things, like the transformation sequence, which there's going to be lots of considering this is a Nanoha series.

Due to having read the manga nothing jumps as a surprise here, though I'm just glad Nanoha's back on TV.

One thing I did like though was that Cranagan looks a lot more detailed than it did in StrikerS, although the net effect meant that it looks something like New York rather than a truly futuristic world.

A cute and charming 1st episode. Reminds me a lot of what made me a big Nanoha fan in the first place.

The Nanoha/Fate/Vivio dynamic is very pleasant and endearing. So is Vivio's friendship circles. It flows smoothly, and is like the viewing equivalent of relaxing and drinking a soothing cup of coffee.

It also helps that scenes don't linger too long, and scene transitions happen at good points.

I have only two criticisms for this episode, and the first is a wider franchise issue:

1. Too many characters. At least half of these characters I'll probably never care about. But that's not overly problematic as long as a few key characters maintain good focus, as is the case so far.

2. Art style and animation leaves something to be desired, especially in the OP. I wouldn't call it downright ugly, but it does feel a bit stiff and inelegant at times. It's a bit disappointing that this looks worse than StrikerS, given how old StrikerS now is. Still, I'll hold out hope that they might be saving on the budget for more action-packed episodes.

Aside from that, a very smooth and enjoyable first episode. Good cliffhanger moment to end on.

ahhh obaa Nanoha.
kid and teen nanoha lives in my heart

vivio not a good enough replacement

Vivio, Fancy Lala wants her stuffed animal back.

I also see Vivio took her underwear and bra fashion sense from Fate, thank god. She was always the more fashionable one.

Was like "yep, good A chest" during the transformation, then flash turns into a D cup

"goddamnit"

that aside, the theatrics combining Fate and Nanoha's transformation for her was pretty goo
