Not quite. In Old Belka's society, 10 years old would've been considered an adult for someone like Erio.

As for Mid-childa, just because it doesn't showcase them doesn't mean the laws aren't there. Fact of the matter is, magic, while safer than mass weaponry, is still powerful and extremely dangerous. The society teaches the youth on how to utilize it safely and responsibly due to the age of 9-10 being the ideal point for magical growth.

This resulting responsibility will also teach them other important responsibilities. And if the society can handle it, then such kids would be able to handle having a job, or in the case of the TSAB, handling the policing and military duties of the local organization. And, as we saw in episode 1, if you can't handle the responsibilities of your job... you're getting fired for it.

Wait.... has the Nanoha series post Strikers been all along a program in support of the second amendment? (teach kids how to use guns safely/in firing ranges!)

I like Fuka's work ethic.

She is like Freeza training only 4 months and surpassed Goku.

We'll soon see just how much talent Fuuka has compared to Rinne, who has been training for who knows how many years.

To be fair, even if Fuka lacks training, she has been fighting on the streets all her life. By the time she met Einhart, she was already pretty strong; what she lacks is technique.

One thought that gets me is, for now, they've completely severed their ties to Triangle Hearts. If you've watched the Triangle Hearts OVA and Vivid Strike, but none of the Nanoha series, you'd never know there was a connection between the two. They don't even take place on the same planet!

Arguably that had happened by Strikers. No one's going to connect adult Nanoha to the Nanoha from Triangle Hearts unless they're specifically told Triangle Hearts was the inspiration for her.

Good point!

This franchise, whatever you want to name it, has certainly developed and evolved in an unusual way.

It never completely puts aside the immediate predecessor, and the main characters of that predecessor are often very important in the current show, but characters do gradually lose importance over time and eventually completely fade away.

The characters that stick around and/or become big aren't always the ones you'd probably expect, either. The most important characters in Vivid Strike that were also in StrikerS? Nove and Vivio. Nove was a secondary antagonist in StrikerS and Vivio was little more than a glorified plot device. And yet they're still here in prominent roles while Subaru and Teana are not.

It's interesting how this franchise never cleanly breaks away from the immediate predecessor, but also allows important characters to just fade away over time. This franchise also has gone through at least two major genre transitions. First into magical girl (with Triangle Hearts to Lyrical Nanoha) and now into super-serious sports anime (from StrikerS to Vivid to Vivid Strike).

I'd love to watch a documentary on this franchise, where various anime staff members explains their thinking in taking this franchise from one step to the next to the next.

It is interesting seeing how this franchise has evolved over time. I suppose in some ways that gives the show more legs since it is never locked down to a specific character or even genre. I mean you could still attach both the Nanoha - ViVid shows as under a large magical girl umbrella, but the focus has shifted clearly.

And I agree with Triple R the interesting thing is the characters that take over. I mean who would have guessed at the end of StrikerS that Nove would become a major character? Vivio wasn't that shocking since she was becoming the "daughter of Nanoha." Though the major focus for Subaru and Teana never did last beyond that one series.

And now here we are transitioning again. Now the main focus moving to Fuka. Of course that still leaves Vivio and company in pretty prominent positions so it isn't a distant switch. I'm looking forward to the meeting with Rinne. No doubt things won't go well. Just curious if they'll perhaps organize or suggest an exhibition fight.

As far as Subaru and Teana go, keep in mind there's also Sound Stage X and the prominent role they played there. Nanoha, like many a story these days, is a multiple medium franchise, after all.

Actually, they should be able to, because no one would use the exact same first-name and last-name for two different characters unless there was some connection, or the creators wanted the audience to see a connection. Especially one as unique as "Nanoha" there's no other character out there with that name.

But, come to Vivid Strike, all you have is a character named Takamachi Vivio, who isn't even a main. Only a first-name or only a last-name can be chalked up to a coincidence.

Have just started the series a few days ago. Surprisingly good.

So this time they can switch to adult forms when transforming. And Einhard is good at spotting people with talent. xD
