Gaara stronger than Kage?

Note that I did say hold his own, not win. Although Gaara is weaker then the Kazekage, especially in terms of your basic ninja techniques and procedure he does have his abilities to back him up, which would proberbly make him able enough to ward off the Kazekage, and maybe even win, but that's pretty outrageous.

Kakashi would not "mop the floor" with Gaara.

Kakashi would easily destroy Gaara in a blink of an eye. Like a previous posted said, Gai easily slapped away Gaara's final attack on Lee without a second thought. It was as easy as him slapping gaara in the face while making him his B. Also it's not like Gaara can just be awake one second and sleep the next and out pops his demon. It will take time and time is the last thing he'll have when he sees a charging chidori

Although Gai is about the same level (Possibly better) as Kakashi that dosen't necessarily mean that Kakashi would defeat Gaara as Gai proberbly would, different people, different abilities. Besides, that final attack itself came from a Gaara that just got beaten up by an Ura Renge with 5 gates opened which came from Lee, not a Jounin, but still a Taijutsu expert.

You seem to think that the only chance Gaara has of beating Kakashi would be to use the full-formed Shukaku, while that maybe true, it still isn't for certain, seeing as how Gaara would be able to destroy any mineral and turn it into sand, this would definately give him an advantage should the terrain be right, even if it isn't Gaara would be able to still hold his own against Kakashi with his Jutsu.

Kakashi isn't nearly as fast as Gai who is most likely the fastest person we've seen(that even includes Itachi).

if we get to see Gaara once again in the anime (which i'm sure of) you'll see his strength. Kakashi cant beat Gaara.. he will just do the sleepjutsu and wake shukaku and then Kakashi can try with his dogs LOL

Dudes it's easy... Jounin>Gaara. (gai easily ditched Gaara's sand, which everybody had been evading desperately)
Shukaku>Jounin (DUHHH, it IS a demon and it was supposed to walse trough Konoha, while oro was killing the 3th, only this didn't happen)

It would only take a hit or 2 from Gai or Kakashi to put Gaara down for the count. They are simply too strong for Gaara. If Lee could get past his attacks and land blows, imagine what Gai and Kakashi would do.

it was NOT kyuubi who defeated Gaara - it was Gamabunta transformed into Kyuubi (he asked Naruto to think of something with claws and fangs so that he could get close to Shukaku in order for Naruto to wake Gaara up and the first thing that came to Naruto's mind was Kyuubi).

And of course, Naruto won - he always wins in the end, in any serious battle

Perhaps you are not so familiar with Japanese/Chinese,etc folklores and such, but a priest can very well be a demon priest.

and one more thing, it's not just a "tea kettle", i believe it's a special kettle with some sort of "sealing" power.
