People were claiming for years Wano would be Zoro's arc and his entire family history gets addressed in a SBS
No, really, why wouldn't that have been included in the main story instead of all those chapters wasted showing people running to the roof or the basement? Same with Tama. And as I said back then, I was certain Oda would address Hiyori's line in the SBS because it was ambiguous even in Japanese. Looks like he didn't go as far as changing it to include "Orochi" though. As for Tama being a Kurozumi, I doubt anyone in the story would care, but it is sweet irony that she was perhaps the biggest contributor to Orochi's defeat.

It's been a while, but it's SBS time again! The info out now doesn't come from the usual sources, but it seems reliable enough (though take it with a grain of salt just in case):
-Oda clarifies that anyone turned to stone by S-Snake simply find her cute in an innocent way (as if you would an infant/child), not in a creepy way. -Oda notes that Ryokugyu (aka Aramaki) must have a sad past because of the tattoo on his chest. -Speaking of Ryokugyu, we learn the brands of justice he and fellow admiral Fujitora abide by! Ryokugyu follows "lethal justice", while Fujitora goes by "honorable justice". -Oda explain's Law's awakening a bit. The "K" in "Kroom" refers to his weapon, Kikoku (which acts as his "knife" in the operating room). Apparently, his awakening allows him to "operate" with his sword remotely (in other words, he doesn't actually need to be inside of the "room" himself. Oda then goes on to say that if the explanation sounds confusing, then that's perfectly normal, lol. -We already knew this from recent chapters, but all former CP9 agents are part of CP0 now. It's noted that the ones wearing masks are the more powerful agents (so guys like Lucci, Kaku, Stussy, and the ones from Guernica's group in Wano). -Sticking to the topic of CP0, after Lucci got knocked out by Stussy, Nami kicked/stomped on him while saying something to the effect of "not so tough now, huh?", since she still hasn't forgotten CP9's mistreatment of Robin at Enies Lobby (too bad Spandam wasn't at Egghead then, heh ). -Oda drew the anthropomorphic versions of Kikoku (Law's sword, as mentioned above) and Mogura (Katakuri's weapon): -We learn Sentoumaru's past! He was originally from a village of lumberjacks living in the woods. Even as a boy, he was ludicrously strong, which got him mocked by his fellow villagers. One day, Vegapunk personally witnessed the youngster's strength in action, and from that moment decided to take him in as his bodyguard. ...And that's about it! Nothing exactly earth-shattering if this is legit, but it's fine enough. I like learning what the new admirals' justices are, at least! And for some reason, Oda trying to explain Law's awakening feels like Araki explaining the more complicated/convoluted stand powers in Jojo, heh. |

And yeah, I don't really get the explanation of Law's awakening either. It just works

^It's just Nami's line that was absent. I guess the anime will add that in though, heh. Oh, and a couple more nuggets of info popped up, in addition to what electricmastro posted: -Between Shanks and Beckman, the former is more popular with the ladies, but the latter is the more flirtatious of the two. -Ranking of which Straw-Hats are the heaviest drinkers: Quote:
-And last, but not least.... official colors for the Vegapunks! Credit to AP's Redon and co. for the extra info! |

There was supposed to be some information about Brook about the 20/40 years later looks. Can’t remember if Jinbe already had his. Plus I was sort of hoping that York’s hair color would match Dr. Slump’s Arale since she has the similar hairstyle.

Ah, alright then. But yeah, wouldn’t doubt Oda is already thinking up of some crap storm that will happen once Tama’s heritage gets outed. The same would go for Yamato too, once she tells more people she’s Kaido’s child, and would have to contend with whatever response she’d get in learning more about this world.

Volume 107 comes out this week, and the SBS info has been leaked! Credit goes to various providers for info:
-Someone guesses that Imu's appearance is someone with a pointy mouth. Oda plays along with that theory: -Someone wonders how Vegapunk cleans his huge head. Oda answers that he dips his head in a pool of "brush fish" that scrub his head clean: -We get the name of Bonney's DF! She has the powers of the Toshi Toshi (age) no Mi! As we already know, she can use it to manipulate the age of herself and others. On a related note, someone else asks why Luffy was so quick to correctly call Bonney by her proper name (instead of "Boggy" like when they first met). Oda explains that after hearing the story of her father, Luffy felt bad about misnaming her so he felt the need to fix that mistake. -It's confirmed that Ben Beckman of Shanks' crew was the one who took Kid's arm. -Someone asks if Caribou heard Luffy announcing his dream back in chapter 1060. A lot of people asked Oda about this, so he finally puts it to rest: NO, HE DID NOT. Despite Luffy shouting to his crew, the swamp man couldn't hear anything from inside the barrel, so it's only the crew who knows their captain's secret! -Someone wonders what profession all the admirals (both past and present) would have in the real world. Oda says that would be radio presenters! -Someone wonders if Coby gave up his dream of becoming an admiral by joining SWORD, so Oda further clarifies: While SWORD members entrusted their resignation papers to their superiors, that does NOT mean they've actually quit their jobs. It's just that they're considered more expendable than your average sailor, and are well prepared for the risks involved. So no, none of them are actually "fired" from the force. -Continuing with SWORD-related info, the stuffed bear Hibari carries around is one she had since childhood. Once, Coby saved her life in the battlefield, but she lost her bear during the rescue. Coby actually returned to that place and found her bear, but got in trouble as a result. Since then, she secretly named the bear "Coby-senpai". However, Oda says that he himself is unsure if this means she developed a crush on him or not. -More SWORD stuff! We learn why Prince Grus wears such a long cap. During his childhood, he was a gloomy kid who always looked down while walking, which resulted in him constantly bumping into things. Once, he accidentally bumped into some pirates, which got him beat up. From then on, his mother made him wear the long cap as a preventive measure so he won't bump into anything anymore! -And last, but not least, Oda based Vegapunk Pythagoras' design on the titular character of the show Ganbare!! Robocon. And that's about it! Nothing particularly mind-blowing, but still some amusing little tidbits. Glad we finally got the name of Bonney's fruit, at least. That means the only remaining supernova whose power is still unknown is Urouge.... |

With the theorized picture of Imu that Oda put out, I hope that never gets used when Imu is properly introduced given how eerie it looks. Glad to see that we get the name of Bonney’s fruit powers. It should be noted that within the Volume 107 SBS information that some perverts were asking about Kujaku, the female marine officer with the Whip Whip Fruit as to what the whips she has are made of and that said perverts were hoping to get whipped by her for their pleasure. Oda was rather annoyed by this and said that the whips she has are made of steel and are capable of splitting apart rocks. Oda then tells the perverts to “GO AWAY!” hoping that would be the end of it.

But, if we were a masochist, we would love to get tortured by any Whip Whip Fruit user. I would say the perverts is a masochist. |

Okay, this is slightly later than usual, but now that volume 108 is out, it's SBS time! Credit goes to AP's Redon/pewpiece/etc. for the info/pics:
-Someone wonders how Figarland Garling would look if he didn't cut his hair. Oda's response: -Someone asks what Ivankov would look like if he ate the Uo Uo no Mi mythical Zoan at God Valley instead of Kaidou. The author's answer: --Here's the human form of Gol D. Roger's sword, which, curiously enough, is named Ace: -Here's a really interesting one: Someone asks why Mihawk, who was once known as the "Marine Hunter", became a warlord in the first place. Oda says that Mihawk has long held a deep resentment for the marines, apparently because of a great betrayal he suffered in the past (we don't have the details of said betrayal yet, though). He's similar to Crocodile in the sense that he distrusts others and prefers to work alone, and Oda suggests that he became a warlord just to keep the marines off his back. However, now that the Shichibukai system has been abolished, Mihawk now resumes his usual business under Buggy's shadow in Cross Guild. -Speaking of Buggy, the name of his new ship is the Big Top Blaster. -It's confirmed that Morgans ate the Tori Tori (Bird) no Mi, Model Albatross, and he's always in his hybrid mode (curiously, even Oda wonders what his original human form looks like). It's also confirmed that Morgans is not a mink, since they're all humanoid furry mammals (so no bird-type minks exist). -The girl seen hugging Shanks in chapter 1079 is named Linaria, who is a member of the Butterfly Pirates. Shanks saved her life when she was little, and has idolized him ever since. She's also known as "Linaria the Flammable" due to being a dangerous arsonist. -The name of the marine teacher who scolds Garp in chapter 1088 is Ototogisu (Japanese name for the lesser cuckoo). She was a former subordinate of VA Tsuru. -Oda says that there are no "normal" civilians in Hachinosu.... it's completely comprised of villains and rogues. However, the island isn't a totally lawless wasteland, as there are still people there who run shops and whatnot. -Hobbies of the SWORD marines: Quote:
-Kuma's bear ears are simply part of his hair. In fact, Oda specifically says it's a result of bed hair, lol. -According to Oda, Wapol's wife Kinderella only married him for his money (again, lol). -The marine HQ has a group of elite cooks known as the "Yonriyorichou" (or Four Head Cooks). One of them, Komakkov (who has the epithet of "Winter Kitchen"), was tasked with being the chef on duty for Saturn's trip to Egghead. Also, he may or may not be connected to Wanze, I guess....? Well now, some pretty interesting stuff here (I particularly liked the bits about Mihawk and the marine chefs)! That's about it for now. Until next time! |

Volume 109 releases this week, so naturally that warrants a bump! Credit goes to AP's Redon and pewpiece for the following info:
-Let's start with a big one: The identity of the warlord that Ace defeated in the past (and whose spot was eventually filled by Kuma)! Ladies and gents, say hello to HANAFUDA: ^His height is 514cm, and has a hobby of collecting Ancient Zoan devil fruits... though his motive for doing so remains unknown. He has the epithet of King of Lizards. -We get some info on Fujitora's sword! Its name is Yakuza Kasen (Yakuza Firing Line), and is a "shikomizue" (cane sword) that happens to be one of the 12 Supreme Grade swords! It's a meitou (famous/named sword) forged by Fugetsu Kisaburou from the Land of Wano. -Someone asks if Shiki's appearance in the Kuma flashback means that the movie Strong World is canon. Oda answers that yes, it may be possible to forcefully fit it in, but it wouldn't have much of a connection to the main story. He also clarifies that the character of Shiki is canon, but regrets the choice of devil fruit he gave him in the movie (the Fuwa Fuwa (float) no Mi) since he has a self-imposed rule about introducing characters in a pirate story who can just freely fly around the world. However, now he has no choice but to go along with it now that Shiki appeared in a canonical flashback (that isn't chapter 0)..... -Someone was confused about Elder Nyon's comment about the Kuja empress from two generations back dying from falling in love.... when it was recently revealed that Shakky, who ruled two generations ago, is still very much alive! Oda clarifies that it's not a matter of direct succession, simply that two previous Kuja empresses caught the disease and died. He also reveals Hancock's predecessor, whose name was Toritoma: ^Past empresses and warriors of the tribe died from the love illness without understanding the source of the malady. However, both Nyon and Shakky managed to avoid death by venturing outside of Amazon Lily. Oda also gives a little timeline of the relationship between Gloriosa (Nyon) and the Boa sisters. After they were freed from slavery by Fisher Tiger, Gloriosa took care of them, sheltering in Sabaody for a brief period before returning to their home. BTW, it seems Oda hinted that the person Gloriosa fell for was someone from the Rocks Pirates (which makes sense, since we saw her during the Kuma flashback).... -Someone asks how the former CP9 agents got promoted to CP0. Oda explains that after the events of their cover story, they briefly settled down at a certain place and trained to become stronger. Meanwhile, Spandam got promoted to chief of CP0 thanks to his father, Spandine. However, Lucci's group discovered a plot involving several criminals from the underworld (among them being some level 6 prisoners from Impel Down) who conspired to assassinate Spandine. They took down this criminal organization, and the government, recognizing their deed, forgave them and brought them to CP0. As for Spandam, due to his father's declining health, he lost the influence he once had, and now ended up serving Lucci instead of the other way around. -Somewhat related to the above, the CP8 nurse Alpha from Kuma's flashback is confirmed to be Califa's younger sister. It's usually rare for Cipher Pol agents to work with relatives since the WG usually makes sure to raise orphans as agents, but Califa's family is an exception. However, the sisters barely know each other since they spent their upbringing separated. -It's confirmed that Kuma can only warp between locations that he's personally visited. -Someone asks if Bonney's DF power can make people young forever, and thus effectively immortal. However, Oda points out Bonney herself clarifying that the aging effects are NOT permanent (as seen in chapter 1072). -In another Bonney-related question, Oda clarifies that her crew is made up of the friends Kuma had while growing up (and had crushes on Bonney's mother, Ginny). However, Bonney got separated from her crew when she got captured by Akainu pre-timeskip. Since then, she escaped and searched for her father, which led to her appearance at Mariejois. Since then, she managed to sneak on a government ship that was close to Egghead (which got shipwrecked), which led to her meeting up with Luffy and co. My goodness, this SBS had a lot of info! Just learning about the missing warlord was crazy enough, but this..... wow! Here's to hoping that volume 110 will be just as jam-packed! |
