The Tenchi comparison is close enough I guess And yes, I'm aware that some are interested in manga continuity only... but they don't have to tell others that it don't count when someone's talking about anime-only events and characters, as it's clear that the anime is being discussed. I'm not shoving anything down anyone's throats, I'm just simply trying to convince others not to shove manga continuity down everyone else's throats
And don't turn this sticky into a flamewar, I was just making a statement <.<

I've been watching Bleach since the beginning, and I'm not sure if any of the questions I have were answered in those initial eps, since I watched them quite a long time ago. Yet the fact remains that I still don't understand some of the very basics about Seireitei (sp?), Shinigami, gigai, and the physical world. Please enlighten me, if you would.
1. Ok, check my logic: A person dies. Their soul goes to Soul Society, where they lose all their memories of their previous life (?). They suddenly get bodies which look just like the ones they had in the physical world, except these bodies do not need sustenance (unless you use lots of reiatsu) and they age very slowly. They are similar however, in that they have blood, internal organs, etc, and they CAN DIE. Now, when a person in Soul Society dies....where do they go? How can a person who's already dead, die? Does the soul of the person get reborn in the physical world or something? 2. Speaking of which, if people in Soul Society bleed, eat (occasionally) and perform all normal bodily functions, can they indeed reproduce? Can two dead people make a baby? What would happen? Ok now here's some questions about spiritual healing and gigai: 1. A common scenario: Ichigo goes out to fight a Hollow, or any bad guy for that matter. He either puts Kon in his body or just leaves it lying on his bed. Now, let's say that he got really beat up and is severely injured. Must he heal himself before going back into his body? What would happen if a severly injured soul put himself back into his perfectly healthy body/gigai? Would there be any effect at all? Perhaps the injuries sustained while in spirit form would appear on the body or something? Why is it always necessary to heal spirit body injuries? They are always doing it in the anime.... 2. Do Orihime's spirit healing abilities work on physical injuries? For example, let's say a normal human being, like that girl that's always hitting on Orihime, fell down the stairs and twisted her ankle. Could Orihime call out her little fairies and heal the injury? Ok I know there were many questions, please bear with me if they seem stupid or obvious. I await your replies. |

Many of your questions are discussed at length in Birth, Aging and Death In Soul Society. Most of those questions have never been answered straight up by the mangaka (except for the existence of reincarnation) so you'll be subjected to a lot of speculation.
We have been informed that injured souls will have their damange manifest on their body. We have seen this happen to Ichigo's body two or three times. Your final question about Orihime's ability can be answered simply: Yes.

Good question. There's no way to answer that for certain since we have seen nothing else which we can compare it to and the mangaka doesn't offer any answers either.
There's a thread around here somewhere with speculation on that point. Please search for it if you want to see the answers that other people have come up with.

Quote:
I believe the meaning to this Latin phrase is Redder than the rose, Whiter than the lillies ^_^ and the poem in the beginning is: Red like blood White like bone Red like solitude White like silence Red like the senses of a beast White like the heart of a god Red like molten hatred White like chilling cries of pain Red like the shadows that feed on the night Like a sigh piercing the moon It shines white and scatters red All his poems are deep and amazing! Tite Rocks!!! |

and out of all of Tite's poems so far, this one is the longest. One of my favorite poem is in volume 12
We think a flower on a cliff is beautiful because we stop our feet at the cliff's edge unable to step out into the sky like that fearless flower. |
