But that's exactly my point. No, he couldn't accept her as both. That was plain for everyone to see. I'm not saying Kitaro should have accepted her as both. I'm saying Neko should have had to face the choice - being Kitaro's girlfriend or being his partner. To show us the dilemma and then give her a way to avoid facing it is the cheat.

One of the ED sequences in the 2007 anime was a montage of Neko-musume (the red-haired waifu one) working a variety of part-time jobs, all so she could buy food and come home to cook for Kitaro and Medama-oyajii.

And remember that Sunakake-baba makes a killing in the stock market.

Looked at Anichart and Syoboi and don't see a Kitarou episode listed for this week.

Maybe Mana-chan contracted COVID-19? She's the kind of girl who'd want to go to Yokohama to help the people trapped on the cruise ship.

Everybody, including Crunchyroll, says this show airs on 3/15 in Japan. Where is it, CR?

Ah, nothing like a nice, light, fluffy anime to cheer us up in these dangerous and uncertain times...

Kitaro needs some help from In/Spectre's Kotoko.

Rather ironic, don't you think, that it's the American yokai, Backbeard, who firebombs Tokyo.

And the PM has gotten her wish, the anti-yokai bill was passed. I was a bit surprised to see the plotting yokai terrorists shot down with guns even with headshots. I thought they were more impervious than that. Perhaps the police were using guns like the PM's?

Mana killed Neko-musume with supernatural power, not something like a gun.

I knew what the PM had in the drawer as soon as she opened it. Still didn't expect the result.

I think we saw the last time that these anti-youkai weapons are already mass-produced. The paramilitary was using them pre anti-youkai bill.

I'll admit I had no idea what this referred to, but then I never read The Golden Bough.

According to MAL, tonight's episode 97 will be the last. Lot of loose ends to tie up.

So that was a decent way to end the series, and while it had its hits and misses, on the whole the hits vastly outnumbered the misses, so I shall miss this show as it's been a regular part of my weekend watching for the last few years.

I always looked forward to watching ths show every week, too.

I thought they would leave Mana without her memories at the end which would have been a fitting conclusion. The closing scene hinted at a continuation which seems unlikely given the gaps between previous versions. Still, Toei might have watched this show make the top-ten in ratings each week and concluded more Kitarou would be profitable. If so, bring it on.

Adult Mana looks like her mom.

I will miss this show a lot, but I'm sure it will be back. There could be movies or OVAs using this same version of the characters, but even if there isn't, it's only a matter of time before Version #7 comes along.

In 2022 there will be Shigeru Mizuki's 100th birthday, so perhaps we will have something then. Like a new season or a movie.

That is my bet also, since those would be a short self contained story which would not need to include Mana (there were plenty of episodes in the series where she did not made an appearance or appeared as a background character).

IMO doing a tv series in 2022 would be too soon, we have already seen how TOEI struggled with many episodes and many of the good one were done by Shigeru Mizuki. Like a good wine I think it would be better to let it repose for a decade and hopefully there will be enough new creative talent to continue where they left.

Because it will be so sad to see them rush another TV series and see them destroy a pretty nice series.

Traditionally it's been every 11 years for a new series. Whether there's a significance to that number I have no idea.
