Sorry. I didn't mean to go down this route. I initially just wanted to say I understood where the other side was coming and that I didn't really buy the claims that gender had to be involved in the issue, but then I guess I started getting a little belligerent. I didn't really understand some of the counterarguments and started to feel like I wasn't stating my own arguments right, and well you see the result. I don't believe I have anything more to say on the matter. I just hope we'll get some elaboration or something.
On a different note, I can't help but wonder whether the U6 people will play a role in this movie. It might be cool to see a Broly v. Kale battle. On a third note, is that poster for real? Must admit I think it'd be awesome if the guy finally got a chance to be more than a joke again. |

It was a given, but they're going with Minus for Goku's backstory. No traces of Bardock when Frieza destroys planet Vegeta, I hope they're not forgetting it was established Bardock tried to fight against Frieza in the original manga.
First form Frieza looks different, maybe because he was younger? In which case he may not be as old as we assumed.

He is older. The editing in the trailer just made it seem they're the same age. When Friza destroys the planet, Vegeta is in another planet with Raditz. That scene was included in Dragonball Minus and you can see it briefly in the trailer as well:
Look at the arm of the creature Vegeta killed. It's the same in both pics, the same bracelets and all.

I'd like to see Raditz interact with Kakkarot while we're at it. It would flesh out his character a bit. It always seemed like such a waste to kill Goku's brother in the same volume he was introduced in.

About the "retcon", it should be noted that the old Bardock special was not written by Toriyama. Bardock himself was an anime creation. That said, Toriyama apparently loved that special which is why he put a reference to it in the manga, so the fact that he decided to write his own version that completely contradicts it is... weird, to say the least. And now we'll just have to deal with having two drastically different portrayals of Goku's father in the anime, both of which are supposedly canon despite contradicting each other...
Never change, Akira Toriyama. Never change.

That looked like some superman scene without any conection to the Bardock we all know and love. That's like using Broly and make him act like Gohan. That's a big disapointment to me. We finally have the saiyan origins explored and they act like nice human parents, instead of the warrior spartan mentality hinted by Raditz, Vegeta and portrayed in the Bardock movie. Seriously, seeing Bardock smiling like that was a real hype killer. I bet they are sending Goku away because Freeza is going to destroy the planet instead of sending him to conquer Earth.......... Dragonsuperman the movie.... i knew the first trailer was too good to be true |
