I recognize one of the blows Fate pulled off. Tertium, that is.

The blow in the middle on the bottom of the page is a downward strike down the chest. It's possibly a Dim Mak move with the design to knock out the air of the opponent. There's supposed to be an energy channel going up there. A normal straight forward punch wouldn't do it, that would push the channel inward. If you pull a 45 degree angle downward, though, you can create a block in it, making them wheezing for air and possibly knocking them out for a fight.

It's just a hunch but that's what it looked like to me.

Going back a little to Cocone ... iirc wasn't it mentioned earlier (around the time of the Mahora tournament, I think) that she was exceptionally sensitive to telepathy? Maybe her "as yet revealed abilities" will be bound up with high end "mental powers"?

I believe the phrasing only implied telepathy was her forte. Not exactly the same thing as being "exceptionably sensitive", but it doesn't necessarily rule out her being a telepathic genius. As much as I'd love to see Cocone get a badass reveal as a Phoenix-class teep (complete with a nice World of Cardboard Speech to explain her meek demeanor), chances are that she's just "above average" in much the same way Mei and Takane are.

One got torn in half - But guessing where the Keeper of the grave grabbed the other one was in the chest area, Fate of Fire was cut from the torso so doubt hes dead.

And the Lightning one just got the left side of his body demolished by Fate Rakan....Looks like he might actually be dead lol

Just find it a little funny that even Fate himself would really take interest in Negi to an extent of betraying his clone brothers. Not that it really matters but I guess even a guy like him can lose composure when it comes to tackling Negi.

It was actually nice seeing more of Evangeline here. It's going to be obvious that Negi would get a lot rambling from her and a mere sip of blood will not be enough for compensation.

Hmm ... in general Fate (and his brothers to an extent) did not strike me as having developed emotions and such. From what I can tell one of the things that makes Fate different from the other three is that he has developed "human emotions" and such - his interest to helping war orphans, and his interest in Negi on a personal level - perhaps even as a sort of rival (in the Japanese sense of the word - i.e. "a good enemy").

I am also am glad to see more Evangeline. She is one of my favorite characters in the story and I always like to see the growth of her interaction with Negi - I am looking forward to their meeting when Negi gets back to Mahora, to be honest, and part of me hopes that Negi will really "show his stuff" and surprise her - hopefully eliciting even more depth of feeling, etc. from her.

As regards the other Averunci (sp?) getting destroyed ... it seems their core is the key to their permanent destruction (a guess on my part based from the conversation with the water averuncus), so I doubt getting ripped in half or getting the left side of their body destroyed would permanently put them out of commission. Maybe just incapacitate them for a long time?

They probably have to get a new body if the old one is destroyed beyond repair. It's like a machine I suppose, as long as the internal parts work the outside can be replaced as many times as necessary.

Simple rule for bad guys in Negima: just before the big battle, don't let anyone on your side harm the Honya-chan. Otherwise, your butt will be in for a world of hurt (although Fate does give Nodoka a chance to possibly take part in this final battle just by simply slapping her).

Oh man, that's going to come back to bite Fate. You do NOT do anything to Nodoka if there is any chance at all that Negi will find out. I also find it kinda awesome that even after getting slapped by Fate, Nodoka is still not afraid of him. Proves that you don't have to kick a lot of butt to be Badass.

... which, the more that I think about it, the less sense that decision makes. "Sure, let's hand the kid an immensely powerful weapon for the friendly tournament fight, but take it away when it's time for him to legitimately save the world!" I mean, I know that Negi wants to stand on his own power and all that, but...
