Well, there you have it people, after 250+ episodes, Gray/Juvia development! This episode was just brimming with the feels...this is where animation really pays off, it was really good.
With Makarov disbanding FT and his planning and insight reaching Xanatos levels (still thinking WTF @ Mest's backstory), now's a good time for a past arc; it's going to be awesome and also raise the anticipation for the next time period of FT. Natsu said he'd kill Acnologia, Gray said he'd kill END and Zeref is still waiting for Natsu to go kill him, so....things to look forward to: - Natsu vs Acnologia - Natsu vs Zeref - Natsu vs Gray when he finds out about his origins Basically a ton of Natsu fights, although with FT's twists we might as well get none of the above. |

Holy... Did Zeref just hint what I think he did?
Spoiler for Fairy Tail END (for now):
It's been far too long since a Fairy Tail arc has left so many big changes behind it and we won't get to see what's coming for quite some time. But it's ok, Zero looks amazing! Also: <3 Juvia and Gray

Natsu Dragneel Gee, I wonder what that hints at.

So let me get this straight. The whole purpose of the Tartaros arc was to get rid of all magic in order to revive END, whose purpose is to kill Zeref. END stands for Etherious Natsu Dragneel. In that perspective, it makes sense that Igneel told Natsu not to read the book nor destroy it, since that will reveal END's true identity and destroying the book would destroy Natsu.
However, what does not make sense is that Natsu and END are two separate entities. The demons of Zeref all are either in their book form or their demon forms, not ever separate. So that is the first contradiction. The second contradiction is the objective to revive END in the first place if END has already been active. It makes the whole purpose of this arc irrelevant since the objective was already made before the arc even started. As for the episode, it had a lot of nice emotional moments. Makarov's disbanding of Fairy Tail also serves the purpose of "ending" the series, for the time being. Natsu leaving for 1 year could also mean a 1 year break from Fairy Tail (current time) in real life. However, I don't understand why Makarov even wants to end Fairy Tail the guild. He was going to pass the leadership down to Gildarts (where the heck is he?!?!), but now he decides to disband instead? He is going to leave the guild unbuilt, with a gaping whole and a vault holding Lumiere Histoire underneath, unprotected? He also apparently does not trust most of the guild members by having their memories erased. All in all, he should have rebuilt the guild hall, since his members really need a place to call home and share their pains right now. It didn't make sense. BTW, Makarov is such a pervert because, once in a while, he goes down and takes a peak at a young Mavis full nude in the buff encrystalized in full display. And this time, he invites all his guild buddies to come in and take a peak for themselves at the show! No wonder he had their memories erased!

The problem is, with the revelation by Zeref at the end, END is actually not sealed. END currently just has to become strong enough to defeat Zeref, which is what Zeref continually refers to, since it appears like END is Natsu. Etherious just refers to Zeref's demons. The Natsu Dragneel part is undeniable. Also, it seems like the Tartaros demons didn't know what END stands for. Hence, this whole arc didn't make much sense, but the revelations are interesting. Edit: Also, the whole issue with Doranbolt doesn't make sense. If he was a spy sent out to infiltrate the council, then by erasing his memories, he essentially forgot the reason for his mission in the first place. Hence, it defeated the purpose of him infiltrating the council. Also, none of the Fairy Tail members remember him, although that can be reasoned with him erasing their memories of him. If he was such an important member of Fairy Tail in the past, then with him erasing memories of himself with others in the guild, it would have created a large discrepancy in their memory. Oh well.

Zeref is weird. He's even weirder than Orphan from FFXIII, he kills anyone he wants but also asks Natsu to kill him (maybe referring to his human form?) while holding the book of END, perhaps as a backup plan...but if END is the strongest demon in his books, why not use that in the first place? Iunno, I guess we'll have to wait and see where the plot goes from here.
Makarov had told Mest to keep his own memories intact, although the latter ended up erasing them anyway - that was his own lapse of judgement, basically making his infiltration pointless. Like I've said in other series, messing with other people's memories is one of the most broken abilities a character can have, so it has to be handled with a lot of care. IMO Mashima just wanted to keep Mest around and came up with this very impractical way of integrating him into the guild...which was then disbanded |

Also we gan get things like natsu is the "good" or human side of END while his "other side" still inside the book the evil one. Quote:
erasing his own memories was his way to make his cover more believable and more hard to be discovered, don't forget the best spy is the one which don't know which he is a spy. well that part will be explainned better later after the flashback arc ending.

I think it's because he erased it or magically hid it, and Makarov put it back. Which reminds me, back when this chapter came out in the manga, people were up in arms over how Mest never noticed he had a Fairy Tail mark on his shoulder...even though it's pretty clear that it was missing. I guess the animators just wanted to make that point clear.

Oo, Fairy Tail Zero begins although the episode # is still branded as continuous so it's not separate series.
New OP song is okay I guess. Personally, I liked the previous two better. However, it was nice to see Mavis' past with Zera already in the latest episode. We're going to find out more about them soon too. I want to protect this smile:
