Four songs released by dai are about Shion waiting for Satoshi to wake up, which he does after two years. Of course I'm not sure how canonical they are.

I was actually thinking about Teppei's question from the preview at the end of episode 18. (I'm quite partial to the theory that she can shoot laser beams from her chest myself.)

Hello, I've just joined the community, and also my eyes hurt a bit so I couldn't go through all the pages. I was wondering, the 3rd season of Higurashi Anime (I think Rei is going to be the name) is coming sometime soon. I've heard so many about it, and thats why I'm confused.

Some say It's going to be an OVA (or some OVA's)
Some say It will not contain the characters from Hinamizawa (Keiichi and the gang)

Any clarifications on this?

The third "season" will be, indeed, a series of OVA (5 to be exact), and some characters will be missing, for saikoroshi-hen, the 3 plot OVA episodes (from second to fourth).

Yes, Rei will be an OVA and it will have 5 episodes. The first episode will be released on December 26 and a new one will be released every two months after that.

That's Umineko no Naku Koro ni, the successor of Higurashi.

What is Keiichi's "K O O L M O D E"?

Is that something to do with his paranoia?

KOOL mode can be referring to either when keiichi is doing crazy cool stunts as K (see with kameda-kun cake brainwashing), or it is referring to his madness triggered during Satoko's breakdown in tatarigoroshi.
For the latter, Keiichi becomes extremely insane and starts to elaborate the assassination plan while discarding all odds against his plan etc.

At the end of the Kai anime, I noticed that the supernatural business with Hanyuu and had not been explained, nor had Frederica Bernkastel (I know she wasn't really in the anime, but I just figured she should have been explained, because at one point I read someone imply that she's important).

When I heard that Rei was coming out, I thought it would answer everything that had been left unclarified. But I'm not sure about that now, after looking at the descriptions for each of Rei's arcs on Wikipedia. Is the source/meaning of the supernatural element ever revealed? If not in Higurashi, is it dealt with in Umineko?

I have a very strong suspicion about Bernkastel's identity after watching the hidden tea party of the first question arc. So I guess what I really want to know is if I should have learned something about Bernkastel before I played it.

I read somewhere on the forum that Rika was screaming out Hanyuu's name prior to stabbing herself to death. What was the reason for that?

It was only for meakashi-hen ( we did'nt see Rika's death in watanagashi-hen).
For the answer, we can only conjecture.

Shion got quite the screentime with the whip scene, but also the ladder one from Watanagashi.
