I envy you Japanese people... Now I'm waiting for the 1st volume of the English release to be out...
Everytime I'm back to watching anime, reading manga and playing console game, I wish I know Japanese... like there's a Shakugan no Shana PS2 game and I want to give it a try but I won't be able to understand a thing T.T |

I'm going to learn Japanese but... I've had past experience of failing to learn another language before. That's pretty much the reason why I didn't try to.
When I was young and my parents sent me to Chinese classes. I learned the language for 3 years without able to speak the language, and it ended up I barely know any words...

Spoiler for Subject:
And while I understand that you're excited about the latest development, please post it in the Shakugan no SHANA novel and manga thread instead of here. This thread is for the anime. You might also want to edit your previous 3 posts with spoiler tags. |

Anyone care to improve the wikipedia articles on the Shankugan no Shana Manga, and especially the Light Novels? Hopefully someone on this thread read them! These articles have very little sumarry of where the literature diverges from the anime and could use alot more information:

I have a question (after reading through this thread to make sure it wasn't answered and checking out the wiki briefly).
Is the manga just a manga version of the novels or is it a separate side-story? I see no purpose in buying the manga if it's just the light novel in manga form, but if it's actually got a different story (similar to what I've heard the Scrapped Princess novel has) then I'd like to pick it up.

I've now finished the first novel, and I actually enjoyed it a fair amount. Spoiler for No real novel spoilers, but better safe than sorry:

Boy I actually bought light volume 14. But even with my handy, or not so handy pocketJapanese dictionary....and my impossible-to-look-up-a-character kanji dictionary, that small font, small leaf-sized100-200 page novel is unreadable. Only in Japanese can you be illiterate while still having a variety of dictionaries at your disposal! (...well maybe also Chinese... )
Oh here's a hint though: On the first page theres alot of talk about blowing a white hankerchief. Whatever that means....
