BTS T-shirt: Japanese TV show cancels BTS appearance
over atomic bomb shirt: "A Japanese TV show has cancelled an appearance by hugely popular K-pop group BTS, amid controversy over a shirt worn by one of the band members. A picture of Jimin wearing a T-shirt depicting the US atomic bombing of Japan, which killed hundreds of thousands of people, started being shared online. It stirred anger among some Japanese BTS fans, who called it an "insult". BTS later apologised to its fans for not being able to make an appearance. The "atomic bomb" T-shirt also featured Korean independence slogans. It was seen by some in Japan as celebrating the bomb which eventually led to the independence of the Korean peninsula from Japanese colonial rule. Japan and Korea's shared wartime history remains an extremely sensitive topic in both countries." See: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-46147777 |

Absolutely cuntish move by BTS. Let's say it as it is.
Even Americans, who did the bulk of the war in the Pacific and dropped the bombs themselves, have not steeped themselves to such lows on that topic after all of that time. Last edited by Toukairin; 2018-11-10 at 23:23. |

Crazy in love? The Japanese man 'married' to a hologram:
"Akihiko Kondo's mother refused an invitation to her only son's wedding in Tokyo this month, but perhaps that isn't such a surprise: he was marrying a hologram. "For mother, it wasn't something to celebrate," said the soft-spoken 35-year-old, whose "bride" is a virtual reality singer named Hatsune Miku." News that will likely be meet with amusement from Kantai Collection fans and may make cringe others, especially China and South Korea.
Japan is looking to purchase F35B for their Izumo-class "helicopter" Destroyers, especially "Kaga". Helicopter-carriers they said. wwwww

That was kind of obvious from the start. Much like the older Harriers on similar helicopter carriers.
Also considering the Kaga is about the scale of Zuikaku, that's is reasonable role (roughly the size of modern helicopter carriers....or LPHs in the USN.

Wonder if the success of Golden Kamuy played any role in changing public attitudes toward the Ainu? Young heroine Asirpa became the poster child for the British Museum's upcoming manga exhibition.

Right nationalist parties don't like indigenous people, and have made many attempts to sanitize history
Ainu, along the burakumin and Korean descendents are the "untouchables" of society. But this kind of attitude, is not exclusive to just Japan

Good news.
By the way, Ainu and Poland have intriguing connection: Bronisław Piłsudski, who was a famous researcher of Ainu culture and brother of the most famous Polish XX century leader, Józef Piłsudski. His Polish/Ainu descendants still live in Japan. That's a reason I look forward for Ainu themes in anime ^^

Japanese railway company starts testing 249mph bullet train speeds:
"This week, Japanese railway company JR East showed off its new Alfa-X, a high-speed bullet train that is designed to achieve a top speed of 400kph, or 249mph, which would make it the fastest commercial train in the world. In day-to-day operations, the train would shuttle passengers at 360kph, or roughly 224mph. On Friday, JR East will begin testing the Alfa-X, without passengers, on its railways. According to Bloomberg, the 10-car train will make the trip "between the cities of Aomori and Sendai at night" for the next three years during a testing phase. JR East hopes to use the Alfa-X commercially by 2030. Japan News says the line will eventually be extended to Sapporo." See: https://arstechnica.com/cars/2019/05...-train-speeds/ |
