Sorry, but your analogy doesn't work, because it's not the same situation. Rou wasn't a passive member of a robber group who was just looking after the women under the orders of some other robbers. Once the other hobgoblins came back, he actively took charge of the group, forbade the goblins from hurting or touching the women, and then even when some of them tried to disobey him, he protected the women from those goblins, and basically showed everyone who's boss. He wasn't someone just watching a bunch of captives, he protected them from the people who actually kidnapped them. I do agree that the time span itself was short, but with a lot of things in these types of anime I just shrug my shoulders and keep going.

If only everyone was actually that rational, heh. Lots of people don't care about any of that and just paint with a broad brush, especially when they aren't even the same species.
Ultimately though, yea, one isn't meant to dwell on it |

I don't think its even that it is because they are different species; its because they are goblins. This was done earlier, but I don't think its the same as any other show 'where the MC has wolf-girls, succubi, etc. fawning over him' because they are usually seen as monsters. I wouldn't believe there would be as much fanfare if they were elves or something more noble, even if it was under a similar pretext. And since they are goblins, its natural to assume that their nature is similar to every other goblin at least on a societal level, thus, even if Gobrou saved them, the girls would still be wary, let alone sleep with them. However, even that idea hinges on what kind of society the human characters live in, which we haven't seen anything of yet; only that of the goblins and the forest. The human girls' behavior might be very in-character for that world, and the goblins might be categorized the same as other intelligent races(i.e. you could see one roaming the streets of a human town, like in Tsukimichi or something).

I am starting to wonder whether the anime is specially targeted at manga/novel readers since I can't imagine anyone understanding the scene with the elves with just the anime context. I get that they want to both keep the story the same and avoid hard controversy, but Gobrou's handling of the elven prisoners is supposed to be kind of important in his characterization.

I'm not a fan of short hair, so for me Mi is looking pretty good. I agree about Sato. She doesn't look bad, but her pre-evolved form seemed cuter. Sei, herself, looks fine to me either way but her Supesei outfit is terrible lol. That hat is so silly looking. Looks like they were shooting for Gandalf but missed and landed on "horror movie fisherman"
When he said they'll pray the elves rest in peace, I thought well maybe if you didn't wait they wouldn't have to. But then, it's not his problem. Made me chuckle though when the princess called him out on that part. Given how he's been screwing every girl around her worry about chastity too didn't seem unreasonable lol. I thought for sure we were getting a royal elf harem member heh. The humans seem well settled by now. Even if they were offered rescue, probably wouldn't take it. They seem to have a pretty nice thing going. Even the kobolds are getting whipped into shape. When he had the blond twins work on potato chips, it made me realize this is isekai. I totally forgot the dude was in our world originally. Isekai like this makes it seem pointless to even be isekai. I don't recall him leveraging his knowledge of our world aside from chips, did he? |

I never forget it's isekai and I also don't think it being one is pointless. If it wasn't isekai we would need some other reason why is Rou super special OP harem master and there isn't many satisfactory natural explanation for that.

^ You could go with Rou being brought up by his mother (human) inside the goblin cave. Just make childhood longer with a sudden ability jump at the end. That way his personality, etc. would make sense and the OP-ness can be simply an inborn ability. The death of his mother could also be used as a powerful motivating factor in whatever way you want (or you can keep her around in the background if you want).

His personality wouldn't make sense though. If nothing else he wouldn't be as quick to resort to canibalism if he were goblin raised by human. Rou needed whole lifetime to get as messed up as he is now. Not to mention it would be necessary explain why he has super special inborn abiity.
Plus generic isekai tropes wouldn't disappear just because you shoehorn some non-isekai backstory even if it would make sense (and I don't think your particular scenario does). This very definition of anime junk food. Adding vegies would just ruin it, so better just pour more oil instead.

^ Just because he would have a mother wouldn't change that he was raised amongst other goblins for whom cannibalism was a norm (and it's not really cannibalism since he rarely eats goblins if ever, but humans). And there is 100 ways for his ability to be explained from random luck to getting the blessing of the unknown god sooner.

Yeah the part about the elves is a bit confusing. I can get Goburou letting them be killed so he can eat them and take the humans prisoner, but then the princess gets mad at him yet never mention to her father what actually happened to her escort.
The girls are definitely sexier with their evolution but I kinda wish author gave Gobumi a design more reminiscent of her hobgoblin form while keeping the longer hair.

I've always taken it as she was the one that killed Rou in his past life. To my knowledge this is only a theory. The anime leaves out a few things about his death. 1) the girl that killed him was a stalker that he regarded as a little sister. 2) he had just been out drinking with a female coworker and had dropped them off after they were dead drunk and was out getting more booze. 3) she somehow had gotten a fairly high-grade military electrical blade as a normal knife wouldn't have really hurt him as he was a super solider and had a slew of Psychic Powers but it kept stunning him everytime she stabbed him.
Mi's shown the same Yandere tendencies only she's made sure she's part on his relationships

Honestly, never thought about that. I think if she's the killer she should've shown stronger reactions once she recognized him (snd if she's a yandere I expect her to recognize the object of her affection based on the slightest resemblance), but we'll see if there are going to be developments in the next episodes.
