For now :
Haganai NEXT - 1st season was fairly enjoyable. Minamike Tadaima - Fan of the characters. Vivid Red Operation - Looks intersting... Date a Live - somewhat interested. Carry overs from current/previous season: Uchuu Kyoudai Robot;Notes Shin Sekai Yori Sakurasou Might pick up 1-2 more, but good season to work on the fearsome backlog!

Okay ... with v2 of the list updated there are a few more series that have caught my eye and therefore I am updating my list!
With the updated list there looks more that will be interesting to try out, and a fair number that will "flesh out" the season for me, methinks. With the four carryovers (all of which I enjoy very much) it could be another busy season for me. Will Definitely Try Out: Kotoura-san Tamako Market Vividred Operation Yama no Susume Ai Mai Mi Will Try Out: Sasami-san@Gambaranai Miname-ke 4 Boku no Imouto wa "Oosaka Okan" Chihayafuru 2 Amnesia GJ-bu Chuto-bu Ryo Kyou Bu S2 Maoyuu Maou Yuusha Gdgd Fairies S2 Suspicious of, but will give a try: Long Live! School Idol Project Puchimas! - Petite Idolm@ster Mangirl! Carryovers (all four definite watches): Saki Achiga Hen - Episode of Side A Shinseki Yori Little Busters! Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo

So we got, uh.... continuations of stuff I didn't really watch, more cute girls doing cute mundane things, harems, and gag stuff. Yuushu and Senyuu look passable.
Where's the premise variety, Lebowski?! Where's the fuckin' plot hook, shithead?! |

Will definitely watch
Minami-ke Tadaima (Season 4) Chihayafuru season 2 Haganai NEXT (season 2) The last 3 episodes of Saki Achiga Hen - Episode of Side A (Which will be air during that time) Will give it a try Mondaiji-tachi ga Isekai kara Kuru Sou Desu yo? Just because it will be animate by the studio which 'made' Ika Musume. Sasami-san@Ganbaranai Yunocchi + Erio = Sasami (the female lead of the series)? Likely will be an interesting series to watch. |

Hmmm
Ore no Kanojo to Osananajimi ga Shuraba Sugiru - Enjoyed the manga chapters I read, the anime keeps the LN style and the director did a fantastic job with Bunny Drop... #Team Masuzu! Tamako Market - Shame it wasn't set in Rome like the director wanted it to be but should still look gorgeous... will check a few episodes out. Maoyuu Maou Yuusha - Should be a fun ride. Haganai NEXT - Will watch i I manage to finish the first season in time... Vividred Operation - Watched most of strike witches so I might as well check out this crap. Long Live! School Idol Project - Can Studio 8 outdo idolmaster? Hopefully the 3d CGI dance scenes are kept to a minimum... Senran Kagura - Battling Vividred for the guilty pleasure watch of the season. |

With that said the two biggest hits of anime in the last 12 years in regards to volume sales both came from minor seasons... but it's not like they had massive hype beforehand. |

Oddly enough, my most anticipated anime is not osananajimi related, it being the next season of AKB0048. Oh frigging god, can't wait to see more Chieri. XD
But yeah, osananajimi doesn't seem hopeful with the new anime this coming season. I mean with a title like "Ore no Kanojo to Osananajimi", it's practically an autoloss. Then usual safe haven Da Capo series has the childhood friends be the side characters, and Tamako Market seems to be up in the air. :sigh: Oh well, at least there's the return of Chihayafuru and Haganai, of which is more hopeful since their end. Speaking of which, it seems we have new 'meat' in town. I've heard praises of Maoyuu Maou Yuusha, and I want to see if it lives up to the hype. Will look at the other novel based anime as well (Savana Game, Mondai Ji Tachi, Sasami-san).

Most of the longer series start in Spring or Fall and run through Summer or Winter. Thus generally the larger shows start in those seasons while the smaller run shows start in Winter or Summer.
Also because it is the Spring or Fall shows that run two seasons, their is generally not as many new shows in Winter or Summer because the time slots on TV are already filled. As to why it is Spring and Fall? Best guess it is the start of the school year in April and October is the half way point.

Bake - 78+31 = 109 SEED - 58+24 = 82 Destiny - 68+10 = 78 Haruhi - 41+34 = 75 Madoka - 71 + ?? (will happen eventually) If you're going with the magazine claims it sold this much when it's really a shipping number angle.. well Macross Frontier vol 1 shipped 45k BD and 55k DVD, so it should be top 3 since it got robbed by Oricon figures just like Haruhi did |

Yes, let's compare volume 1 of a series shipping 100k versus the entire series being confirmed to have "sold" (not shipped, SOLD) 800,000 (Haruhi 2006 + Gekisou DVDs via a 2009 guidebook). Do you happen to have the full numbers for Macross Frontier? When it comes down to it, I kinda trust the distributor more since they actually know their numbers and don't "estimate" a weekly number (if you're in the top 300 for sales) like Oricon does.
