With that said, what Jouichiro told Soma in the first chapter acquires a new dimension with the more recent events.

It was already strange that he would give his own son who had spent 12 years of his life in the kitchen, an advice rather than let him do his own. But it sounded even more weird when he specifically stated it had to be a woman, one that would demand Souma to "give her all the delicious food in the world".

Never thought it would go beyond just cooking. And it just happens Souma is going to do as Senzaemon and Jouichiro wished because of his one and ultimate goal.

What two brilliant minds, those two.
I agree, so brilliant. Because two fully grown adults could do nothing to help a little child curing her trauma, they decided to raise another child as a cook (a job that has nothing to do with curing mental disease) to do what they couldn't when they turn teenagers. So flawless, I can't think of any plan smarter than this.

Geez, you don't understand a thing, do you?

It doesn't take a wise mind to figure out why Senzaemon isn't personally taking part in this. And don't get me started on why Jouichiro isn't, too. The first chapter says all you need to know.

No, I'm fully aware. It's all for the sake of the plot. Or else how could the author turns Erina into a damsel in distress and the heroine afterward?
I just want to state my opinion about the otherworldly logic the author's trying to force readers to accept.

Just saying, escaping with her cousin to the self dependent dorm and being around her only "friends" plus possible new ones... and you still say damsel in distress. This arc has gone from "that" to herself gaining the confidence to stand against him by learning and changing with the help of the PSD.

I find it odd that you can say that with a Fate/Stay Night avatar. That's an entire character's background and driving influence.

You can say whatever you want, but looking back at the beggining chapters and later, that otherwordly logic you say makes perfect sense, whether you like it or not.

And Erina isn't a damsel in distress until I see Azami locking her up in an isolated dark room, for which he will have earned himself all my fury.

For the sake of the plot, you say? Everything revolves around the plot, thanks for telling me the obvious.

But whatever, I'm well aware you don't like Erina or anything that relates to her in some way or another, looking back at previous posts of yours. Therefore, this discussion is over to me.

I meant in real life, of course. In fiction I know there exist certain exceptions. Damn, you just made me recall the Bluebeard worshipper.

Well, I guess the author has his reasons to write the story this way after all...

Just one minor addition. When people use the term "damsel in distress", they don't mean it literally. A female character doesn't need to be locked in a tower or a dungeon to be called one. It's just a situation where said female character is put into dangerous situation, rendered helpless and needs to be saved by the main cast. That's all.

How you know? Maybe Erina will be captured back in next few chapters, and Soma and his allies need to storm into the soul soci- Azami's mansion to save Erina.

I am afraid that Erina will be used as a plot device to trigger the "war" between Azami and PSD.

Yeah, could be, but with how the chapters go I see its less possible to go that way... I even think the break point would be Erina standing against him, unleashing herself the civil war.

Yeah, I see the plot heading in this direction. Erina, aided by the moral support of all who are close to her, firmly stands against Azami, thus triggering the rebellion. From there it's PSD vs Azami and the E10 (the 6 who supported him in the ballot).

Erina is a defrosting ice queen type. Subverted in the fact she actually became that way through psychological punishment, not willingly.

So the Erina that was presented to us isn't the real one, therefore nothing about her character is tarnished, as Erina is slow and progressively returning back to her former self.
Shouma is on his quest to find Zero no Erina.

Err no it really doesn't make perfect sense. If Azami's treatment is really as bad as the old man feared then calling the feds and suing for custody of Erina is easily much more dependable then asking some 15 year old kid to save her with his cooking. Also getting a therapist to sort out her daddy issues. Now that would make perfect sense.

Granted this is shounen so expecting characters to do the obvious thing would be too anticlimactic.

Azami: Since when were you all under the impression Shokugeki no Soma was a cooking manga.

Soma will probably end up walking in on Erina in the shower.

This will make the possibility of Erina being alone, or with Hisako, even higher. Besides, I don't recall PSD having that large and spacious of a bathing area, which Alice definitely wants, and Hisako not wanting Erina to squeeze in.

From a realistic point it sure doesn't make any. But I know this goes beyond such thing, both Jouichirou and Senzaemon are shippers on deck. And as GBD said, going for the obvious and easy way would be too boring, and we should never apply real life logic to a fictional story.
