True, it looks as if he'll most likely stick to the "good" side.... but I still wouldn't say that it's 100% guaranteed that he won't go maverick, either. After all, recall that Todoroki still had some lingering doubts about his fire powers despite Deku's encouragement during their fight in the last arc. Iida could go through a similar phase, depending on how much Stein's words impacted him.... |

Yea part of me wants Iida to go good and the other wants him to go anti-hero, seriously Iida looks fucking awesome when he's mad, also the way Deku describes Iida before they go to their work study trips makes me think something big is about to go down. Or he's exaggerating.

Reading Academia after watching the latest Gatchaman Crowds Insight really highlights their differences in approaching shounen themes. Where Academia celebrates and praises heroic shounen beliefs through Deku and co.'s heroics, Insight's been studying and exposing shounen ideology flaws through the new character Tsubasa. (Does anyone here watch it?)
In fact, I wonder how an Ichinose Hajime vs. Stein fight would've went, especially since Hajime's always about listening, understanding the other side before taking action. :> |

what do the other think? will Iida lose his arm forever?
i dont think that he lost his arms permanently, it is mostlikely in the meaning of "i 'offer' this arm for victory", which means that in the current fight the arm wont be usuable, but it can be healed... at least this is how i see the scene, the knife attack injured his arm but i dont think that it will be able to stop his arm forever without any chance of healing for todo: while it seems like todo is using his ability far better this chapter showed that he had 2 big weaknesses: the first one is his inexperience with his fire side, this is ok, he will get more experience with training and time... the second one is more heavy, todo is standing in one spot while using his powers, this is how stain always got near him, dodging attacks is not easy but for experts like the herokiller it isnt worth mentioning, and this against a target who doesnt move? it will be a big advantage... actually, the most dangerous for stin are long range fighter or fast-close range fighters... im sure he will need to train in that part in the future btw, still no kacchan :'( but Iida is COOL!!!!! ) |

Yeah, Stein's easily becoming one of my favorite characters in the series. Psycho villain though he may be, it's very interesting to see that he has his own strict code of honor. I'm also hoping that he becomes a recurring character for the rest of the series.

And the mangaka seems to know what he has with Stein as well.
Kinda hoping he sticks around until he's a final stepping stone before the final boss. How bad ass is he anyways? Gets beaten to a point he gets captured, then frees himself to kill someone he finds more disgusting than the "fake heroes" while saving a kid that exemplifies everything he believes a hero should be. Either Stein escapes here, or he quietly turns himself back to Deku's custody. I believe Stein's current mantra is, "I'm not the hero this city needs, but the hero these people deserve"

agree, sometimes i get the feeling that the author has no idea what he will do with his villion (exmple: ywach and madara) and simply pulls stuff out of thin air :/
but mori seems to have a detailed idea about stain Quote:

he is reminding me somehow on Rorschach from the Dr.Manhatten-comics, both are so deep in their desire to save and correct the evil of the world that they lost themselfes and became evil too |

So, thinking on it, Stein looks a LOT like Deku in the last panel, and he uses his brain to analyze his opponents similar to how Deku does. I know I've seen some theories that he may be a Deku from the future, but that seems entirely unbelievable, especially in his interaction with Face-Palm-Kun.
I'm curious, however, if Deku might not have had an older sibling? Outside of his mother, we don't ever see any of Deku's family, other than the early mention of his father's quirk. Wouldn't be too unheard of that an older sibling wasn't mentioned, if he had vanished in some great tragedy.

Isn't it Stain, not Stein? As in blood stain. His name is spelled ステイン (google it and you'll notice straight away the term is used to refer to stains), Stein as in Stein's gate or Frankenstein would be シュタイン.
I'm really sorry about this but improper spelling triggers my autism Anyway, Stain is a really interesting antagonist. I could see him eventually becoming an ally in the future. He's warped but he doesn't seem evil. I bet he's got a tragic backstory that turned him into who he is now.
