You can check the file size in your operating system you know. =P Anyway it's 67.45 KB (69,065 bytes).

Gif can.

~19KB, and not much decrease in quality compared to the .png from what I'm seeing.

Gifs don't support transparency. They only support transparent and opaque, nothing in-between which is what you really want. And sorry, but it doesn't look so good with those blue bridges causes by the gif algorithms trying their best using the technology of the 80s (when they were introduced). We really need a better image format.

Yes, no and "many people don't know this."

PNG-24 is like a looseless jpeg (in the way it handles colors) + perfect transparency. PNG-8 is like non-animated gif (again, based on how it handles colors), with transparency but you have to really know what you're doing. By default most people won't be able to get anything more then 1bit alpha channel (ie. gif transparency) with most programs trying to save something as PNG-8 (photoshop is no exception).

The format just doesn't get any love.

PNG-24 (original) -- 67.45 KB (69,065 bytes)

GIF (Kanon) -- 19.08 KB (19,534 bytes)

PNG-8 -- 22.59 KB (23,131 bytes)

Yeah, I didn't notice the blue halo was totally screwed up until I looked a bit more closely. Nevermind then.

Is it just me or do the 8-bit and 32-bit look the same?

I just tried it and you're right

Is this not possible with photoshop or do I just suck? (most likely the latter)

Yah, I'm wondering when more forums will start supporting animated PNGs, so we can finally put GIF to rest. T-T

You mean "browsers" not "forums." APNGs, last I read are basically just a image slideshow not a true animated format; in others horribly inefficient.

LOL, I don't think I should have a BRS dream, it'd be too scary.

I vaguely recall having a dream involving BRS within the past few weeks but I don't really remember what happened anymore... you know how dreams are... T_T it was a superbly animated dream though.

Really? I've definitely gotten a full alpha channel before, with semitransparency and anti-aliasing and all, saving as PNG from Photoshop. Unless you meant something else...
