Just noticed Chuck's fins making him a literal Fish Human like the Mayan origin legend in Macross Zero. Guess that makes Gavil a Bird Human eh?
In any case it seems the Protoculture seeding program which the Survey Vessel was doing before it got wrecked by Anti-Stellar Republic forces worked. There are several humanoid races rimward of the Orion arm away from most of the fighting. Humans may have taken upon themselves to technologically uplift these races as they got a head start with Overtechnology. Considering individuals we've seen with Zolans to these two new races have human names Earth culture has also spread to them. Which may be the beef the Kingdom of Wind has with the NUN. They have their own culture and want to keep their sovereignty. edit: Arado Mölders 33 y/o. Delta Squadron Commander. Both patient yet strict, he is the dependable big brother type. Kaname Bucaneer is his idol partner and counterpart in the preview. Likely a Big Bro x Big Sis ship with Kaname being Arado's 11 year junior. Last edited by ReddyRedWolf; 2015-12-23 at 05:02. |

I wonder if Messer is short for Messerschmitt, though the last name Ihlefeld is most likely named after Herbert Ihlefeld, a Captain of the Luftwaffe.
Chuck is possibly named after Chuck Yaeger, who also flew the Mustang (no surprise there, the guy is almost a century old). Immelmann is of course, Max Immelmann. His first name, Hayate is named after the Nakajima Ki-84 Hayate. As for the idols, at this time I am not sure who Freyja Wion is a reference to in terms of aerospace, but the others: Mikumo Guynemer - Probably after Georges Guynemer Kaname Buccaneer - Blackburn Buccaneer Makina Nakajima - Nakajima aircraft company Reina Prowler - Northrop Grumman EA-6B Prowler As for Mirage? She is a JENIUS, thats all you have to know. - Tak

You know that Mirage can also refer to Dassault's most popular line of delta-winged fighters right? But yes, being a Jenius is all people really need to know about her

Topic necromancy!
[Wasn't reading this forum until recently, and want to say something on the matter. Quote:
And I love to see women who can kick butt (my DVD and book shelves are full of titles featuring them), but female characters don't need to be able to fight to be strong. Remember Frontier? Sheryl Nome was completely hopeless as a pilot, but in terms of willpower and strength of personality, she was probably the strongest character in the show. At this time, I have confidence that Delta will be as good as or better than previous Macross series in terms of its female charracters. |

I do know Komilia calls Breetai uncle... which makes the big guy blush (and thats difficult to imagine)
Ya know what? Speaking of the Jenius(es), I wonder if they will ever make a group cameo in the form of a fighter squadron? - Tak

He got this complex of being too tall! Meltrans with the chibi genetic quirk either understand him or is jealous of his height! On the other hand bitches are after him for his body. Why do think he is on the frontier? |

Of course strength isn't defined by a character's ability to kick ass. But that's a moot point, because in most cases you'd want to see a woman kick ass because is cool and somewhat rare, not because "they need to". It's an aesthetic reason, not a political one.

Johnson could be a nod to either Robert S. Johnson or Johnnie Johnson, both WWII ace pilots. Unless it's actually spelled Johnston, which would then be a reference to Alvin Johnston, who test-piloted the Bell X1, the B47 Stratojet and the B52 Stratofortress. A less likely candidate would be Tex Johnston, who piloted the Dash-80 (essentially a Boeing 707 pre-prototype and technology/concept demonstrator) and is most famous for executing, quite recklessly, an impromptu barrel roll with his Dash 80 during a demonstration flight in front of company executives.
Aside from that, Arado refers to Arado Flugzeugwerke, a German WWII company that is best-known for producing reconnaissance seaplanes that could launched and retrieved from battleships, such as the Arado Ar-196.
