Well, I didn't put this moe tournament yet, so why not. Can't really find any other recent "big" tournaments after this one...
http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=105843 I realized it could be a video game, so perhaps these. But any real fighting game fits to me. http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=61371 http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=104167

Maybe one of these?
http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=32101 http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=6702 http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=90411 Games are competitions and from the riddle it seemed like it involved violence/beating other people in order to ultimately win.

Sure, more hints the better!
The only thing I saw working was taking the last sound of each line, and it sounds similar to something, but I'm probably just blinded by my fan-brain: Winner=R I=I Luck=K Play=A of=F argue=U Are=R too=U shed =D fate=E (?) Rika Furude from Higurashi? Yeah, I took a little leap with the last word seeing as it wasn't a sound, but oh well. The series as a whole pretty much fits the riddle with 'fate' and it being a 'game' and all. http://forums.animesuki.com/forumdisplay.php?f=55 http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=44686 http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=39859

For the sake of letting other people reply and to not over-post, this will be my last one for a short while :
Seeing as the last sounds spelling out Rika Furude seems pretty unlikely to be a coincidence (though a funny one if it is), I forgot to search her name, so perhaps this? http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=57258 She won the Anime Saimoe Tournament in 2007 as well: http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=49120 http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=52366

Alright, but you may not like it as much. Since I already explained the biggest indicator which were the sounds at the end spelling out Rika Furude above, I can only explain the rest with redundant details since my understanding of these tournaments themselves is limited.

Truth be told the rule/guidline/whatever is very flimsy and doesn't really cover real world scenarios we got (what if you post the right link a big batch of links? with no explanation); but meh ~ gotta have something.

http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=56856 If the answer is a character, then I'm guessing Ibuki Fuko from Clannad (carries a starfish with her all the time)

Fuko is a good guess, but I believe that the correct answer is:
