my guess is that because of the fact 6 just has akatsuki returning with miu and listy and there isnt a lot plot wise its skippable. 8 has akatsuki seemingly about to fight Kyoya and bare minimum and possibly kaidou so its a huge volume to the plot for people who want to fill in the blanks the anime left out.

I think that it also had to do with having multiple translators at one time. They divided the volumes probably.

I think this is one of the few anime that was well-received out of Japan but didn't get a second season due to not being popular enough in Japan, isn't it.

Maybe Japanese otaku's does not like aggressive male characters when it comes to girls/women. They probably prefer the one's who are clueless and docile, kinda like themselves, maybe?

Maybe, but to be honest, Akatsuki's a bit too aggressive for anyone's taste(unless you a total sadist). But if that is the case, What about Ise from Highschool DxD, shit's getting a 3rd season and the guy while is not that aggressive(due to a bit of trauma involving his death) he will get more and more aggressive midway through 3rd season so volume 6-7 if I remember right.

Regarding THAT case he is more typical MC.

But he's actually wasn't dense towards Yue feelings and had proper sex when they got spare time. Yeah, it's typical for RL, but not typical for MCs in LNs.

We are not talking about having or not having sex with characters.
Indeed it's not usually described because it's considered adult content. So authors usually try to avoid it (for whatever reasons).

The idea is that Akatsuki has rapist traits. Hajime - not

I don't remember him attempting to rape anyone. He is aggressive yes, overly, sometimes, rapist traits definitely not. Most women prefer the aggressive over the laid back, too romanticized men. That is why those playboy/Don Juan type of men always get the pretty senoritas.
