Kurono Mao, a tall and scary looking young man but otherwise ordinary high school kid, was about to be confessed by the girl of his dreams.. when he is teleported to another world.

Dark continent is where various monsters and humans live in relative peace. There are nations at territorial conflicts, but no racism exist. However, the humans of the Church sends crusades to conquer the continent under the name of holy war for their God, and again brings misery and death to Kurono's life. Kurono vows vengeance on the Church and their crusades, as the war rages on and the Dark continent, followers of the "black gods" fight for their survival, as the Crusade leaves nothing but corpses in their zealous path.

It's pretty dark, majority of characters are brutally slaughtered and Christians may be offended.
(The Church is clearly based on Christianity, cross is their symbol, Crucifixion is a theme, some the 12 Disciple have biblical names, the head of the Church is the pope, there are inquisitions, etc) Something tells me the 4th Disciple Judas is going to betray. Gee.

Because most fantasies take place in medieval times, and all the Inquisitions and witch burning antagonism of the religious zealots are a staple of such era? And let's not get started with the crusades.

"Medieval dark ages" and the atrocities of the "oppressive Church" goes hand in hand.

They are bread and butter, but of course, that makes it also a cliche.

For Fictionpress, it was at the begining of the year when I took interest to web novels because of Mother of learning... At that time, when I saw something interesting I would read it straight... Without bookmarking it... And when I started reading novels on Narou, I spent even less time on Fiction press (far from the eyes, far from the memory)... The main guy isn't OP, but thanks to the ruthless training of his grandfather he is on par with elite fighters (when it comes to physical CQC since he doesn't use magic), and outside of CQC he can only use throwing weapons.
As far as I've read, building a nation isn't in his mind, but he is clearly hostile to the empire, who is after him (since the guy who summoned him was a friend of the emperor and a powerfull mage, an important asset for the empire). He fled the empire and is living in other countries as an adventurer.
So I guess building a nation is a by-products of his efforts to defend himself from the claws of the empire (and his growing accomplishments as an adventurer).

Shame it isn't being translated, sounds a lot more interesting than most reincarnation/transported to different world themed novels.

Waltenia is the land he is given to rule, an untamed land full of powerful monsters and thought hopeless to colonize.

Unfortunately the work went on hiatus before developing that plot much.

The previous arc also included fun things such as Sirius + disciples inscribing themselves as adventurers and having their abilities measured by an instructor (including Sirius breaking a magic power measuring cristal ball, a feat that has been only rumored so far (long ago, this certain wizard guy achieved it, etc)), the disciples being attacked by a rookie hunter gang and I don't remember what else.

The new arc is about the graduation: Emila, Reus and Lise pretty much already have their graduation requirement fulilled by their antics through the campus; but Sirius case is different and the teachers are not sure what test to give him.

.... So, ABC happens and he ends up in the principal's office; the principal proposes a duel between Sirius and the Magic Master as a test. The reason? Since Sirius follows his "cover agent" principles, he hides what he can do, that actually causes slander since his disciples are pretty much the strongest in the school and them revering him "with nothing to show for" gains him emminity (which is actually what caused a problem that had Sirius head to the principal's office).

The principal states that as an educator, he understands the mood of "watching the back of your students", but being of the same age, wouldn't it be better if Sirius walks the same path than them, side by side? Well, and then, there is another reason for the duel. The Magic Master had this "theory" about magic and it's application, but the other people submissed it as "impossible, you are a genius, so you can, why could I?"; the thing is that Sirius coincidentally can also use that theory; thus the principal wants to spread his view that magic is boundless, and that magicians should dedicate themselves to bring it to it's limit; he wants Sirius, a "colorless" student who has no innate potential, to show just how far you can take magic.

So, for one part the duel is a way for the principal to solve many issues, and that also means that after fighting the strongest swordman in the world, Sirius will face the strongest magician (which Sirius admits as a "bad match up").

Speaking of, meeting Fia is considered a SS class rare encounter I wonder how rare would marrying her be♪♪ (only 2 years to go )

Kurono Senki, is fine I guess. Kurono weakness is a bit minus, other than he is a good protagonist. It is also quite funny especially Fay, twin Deneb-Alided, and my favorite Myra the Silent Killing (that was a very good netorare, my pupil *clenching fist under the table* LOL). Princess Tiria is not bad as well, whenever she is on slump. My favorite quote is: "(the) father is titled [Slaughter], and Kurono himself is famous as [One-eyed Demon], I guess his child later will be known as [Maou]"






nocturne has several good titles, currently I'm following 4-5 of them m(= .=)m

I have a couple of nocts I'm following as well but there's so many misc. series on there it's hard to find the good quality ones that have story as well without reading them one at a time.

It's kind of amusing there are some nocts that barely border on the 15+ line with more story focus and some syousetsukas that seem like they should be 18+ with the descriptive detail.


@World Teacher that last fight was fun, I was expecting some event to come out in related to Fia and her potential connection to the principal. Like if the principal recognized her mithril knife or something, seems such events will not come up this time around.

Noct is me not wanting to write out nocturne after attempting to write out syosetsuka. Nocturne is the 18+ version of syosetsuka.

Though there's a good mix of series on both which border the 15+ line, the larger majority of stuff on nocturne are heavy erotic literature with anime based elements, and quite a bit of rather hardcore stuff.

You forgot to mention the most entertaining aspect of the story.

The fact that all of the main heroines are yandere or twisted in some form and yet the protagonist is oblivious to all the acts they do for his sake behind the scenes.

It's one of my favorite series for that. Too bad it updates too slowly.

The first! The first! The first! ... okay, not really.

As I recall the third, 王国へ続く道/Road to Kingdom, is pretty plot-heavy... slow-ish, though.


I wish there were more good stories on Nocturne with strong female protagonists (meaning where the female protagonist isn't just a vehicle to have bad things happen to her), but those are rare. I remember one off the top of my head, but that was... very special, if you know what I mean.
